I haven't heard about anyone link the demise of the walk-on program with coaching (and more specifically scheme) churn. If we were able to maintain a consistent scheme on offense and defense, would high school coaches start emulating them, so that in-state walk-ons would have a head start when they arrived on campus? If so, are the current schemes coachable at the HS level? That seems to me to be a key piece that has been missing the last 15 years, and one of the benefits of maintaining a stable coaching staff.
