Why is it so hard to find updated standings on Girls Volleyball? Do these kids not deserve the same respect as football players?

I have been wondering the same thing myself... I have even checked maxpreps a few times to find that there are a few teams that only have 5 games recorded into their system. If you find an updated standings/rankings would you please post the link for it

I have 2 fairly large newspaper companies in my area plus 2 local papers plus the school website plus the district site and none have updated standings.I know what the record is of our team but have no idea where we stand in the district.Very disappointing for these girls not to get the exposure they deserve!! I have seen some crowds at Vball games as large as football and I just think it is a big slap in these ladies faces when they work just as hard as all other sports and can't even get the exposure they deserve.Football does not rule the world as some media members may think!! Actually, football does rule the world

Football is BY FAR the biggest revenue generator. I am following the daughter of one of my co-workers who is on a private school team and doing very well. It's extremely difficult to get any information. But, when newspapers and local news channels are covering events, it's not for parents and friends of family. It's for subscribers and ratings, and high school football gets the interest. If someone does not have a child playing volleyball, is related to someone playing volleyball or is friendly with the family of someone playing volleyball, no one cares. Football typically pays for itself and other programs besides. Now, from a school standpoint and a school district standpoint, there should be absolutely no distinction between the two. But, from a coverage standpoint, the public makes that determination. Unfortunately, football and boys basketball rule. Other sports are confined to small box scores in the paper.

Re: Actually, football does rule the world

I have to agree with you on football being king with revenue, but I have always enjoyed going to see volleyball games, even when I didn't have someone I knew to go watch (it just so happens that I have someone playing this year). I get what you are saying though, other sports probably don't get the same casual fans that varsity football does. I am huge football fan, but it's not the only sport I like to keep up with.

My local paper (Daily News Leader) does a good job of covering the volleyball game stories, giving scores, and giving the girls some newspaper coverage. I just wish they would publish some updated standings or rankings. I would be fine if they just put it in there once a week so we could have an idea as to what things looked like. I know its probably hard for them to do, because even maxpreps doesn't have updated rankings.

It would also be nice if the playoff system would have been explained to us in some way, before the season... Maybe it was explained before the season on here or on vhsl and I just missed it (or maybe I am just not as bright as I think I am).
