Our guys MUST find the killer instinct and put teams away when we have such a big lead. There’s no way in hell with the way our Cats can play D that a 17-20 pt lead should be gone in 8 mins! EJ had one of his worst games to date, KJ played terribly until the last 8-9 mins, Ashton had some uncharacteristic to’s, and Quickley didn’t even show up today and we still got the W on the road!!! All we need now is to learn to put em away at whatever cost! Helluva stretch over the last 10 games!!! GO BIG BLUE!

It seemed like we went under every screen (albeit a lot of them were illegal or moving screens that were never called) in the 2nd half even though we had to have known the ONLY way Miss St was going to get back in it was at the 3 Pt line

Very good win
No buts
Some poster just can't bring themselve's to compliment this team......how many of the top teams would have withered in today's game? This was a great test for our CATS.......I give them many kudos for not wilting when MSU turned up the heat......I am not a basketball expert but I am impressed with this team's moxy.....

If you didn’t see the run coming you haven’t watched much basketball. Any road win is good but this was especially good. This is a good MSU team

MSU is a good basketball team. They basically did 0% in the 1st half and 100% in the 2nd.

I agree it's frustrating to blow a lead, but it also shows some resiliency. We need to see some adversity.

Great post. They're a tournament team. they were awful in the 1st half--they were going to come out guns blazing in the 2nd. Beating a tourney team on the road is a great win.

I bet Cal and the team couldn't wait to get out of there. Miss St crowds get hostile if they think they got screwed on a win.

To start the second half I think they got a little complacent. Lookin to do to much individually. Got away from our offense and had some lapses on D. They shook it off when they realized they were in a dog fight and MSU wasn’t goin away. Good road win. I’ll take it.

Always the negative...you could look at it as a positive experience bc they had a lead, lost it, got in serious foul trouble, with the best player fouling out and still came out with a win. That experience goes a lot further than beating everyone by 30...different environments, different challenges. That's how you get better. I understand I'm talking to someone with a common demeanor of a UK fan tho. Remember most on this board quit on a young team a couple weeks in the season and were ready to jump off a bridge bc they thought 10 plus losses...like ppl knee jerk and then forget about every year towards the end of the season.

For some reference the 2012 team, you know pretty good, with the best player in college and ranked number 1 was down at unranked miss state and won by 9. I hope they figured that unacceptable play out....

Kept leaving Reid on a 3-pt shooter. That was so frustrating to watch.

Ashton kept going below the screen even when the screener had bad positioning. That was making Reid guard the shooter and he was getting out on him late. Why?!!!

EVERY time Cal has talked about defending the high Pick-And-Roll, he says we HAVE TO fight through more screens, so why did Ashton continue to go under the screener?

That was even MORE frustrating to me.

The good news: This team seems to be very responsive to coaching. Cal's going to tell them this is what happens when you're up 18 and let your foot off the gas.

MSU is a good team. Winning there is good by me no matter the amount.
MSU is a good team and it's hard to figure why they have 7 losses. They have a big from line and quick guards that can shoot. It was a very good win today but MSU should be better.

on the road against top 25 team that shoots the three! The goal is to just not fold when they make a run. And this team has been putting way teams of late. And opponents won' t have their home crowed to cheer them on come March (we will...)

Hated that 2nd half for the most part but this team made enough plays down the stretch to get the win. Some of it is on the guys but after all these years with Cal, I know he’s going to slow things down, go inside and try to shorten possessions with a double digit lead. Especially on the road. This team may be Cal proof. They have a blue collar attitude on defense and a will to win with PJ, Hagans and Herro.

So when Cal slows it down, they get snake bit but not enough to lose it. Reminds me a bit of the ‘12 team when it comes to bending but not breaking.

Helluva road win ... that’s a tough place to play... on to a huge against LSU at Rupp
Exactly. They play us tough down there damn near every time. Even the best teams in our storied history had trouble winning at The Hump.

Let's see, 1996, 2010 and 2012 all come to mind off the top of my head.

Also look the tournament is gonna be full of close games..........we haven't had too much success in close games......I like having games like this.......close ones where we have to execute at the end of games to win......this will only help us.

Great win.
Glad they had to make plays late to hold on.
With that said, the play that really pissed me off was when we were up 49-31.
Reid gets the Defensive rebound, surrounded by two defenders he tries to dribble up the court (he never does that)
And they knock it away, hit a wide open 3 and next thing it is 51-48.
Crazy how things snowball quickly.

Both the Auburn and MSU comebacks were built by getting hot from three. A lot of them off ball screens involving Reid.

If Kentucky makes FTs and Reid doesn’t turn the ball over by trying to dribble out of traffic while up 18, the comeback today probably never happens.

It happens sometimes.

Their defense in second half seemed to shock the Cats after it appeared MSU was going to lie down in the 1st. I’ll take this win all day.

Next two games are meaty!
