If these transfers represent the broader picture -- 10 to BIG programs, 1 to the ACC -- does it mean that the BIG is becoming the lacrosse conference, or closing lots of ground on the ACC?
A lot of ground has been closed already. The Acc gets a lot of great prospects no doubt, but as time goes on, the more the Big Ten seems to be coming on. Maryland has the best coach in the game and a storied history, Hopkins has a couple of big financial boosters and history, and has been recruiting well. Penn St. is very well funded and moving into the elite with their recruiting. Same with Ohio St. who seems to have coaching issues but are always going to be the mix just because. Michigan, the school likes to win. They recruit well and picked up the most high profile transfer of this class. We are swimming with sharks, but we are becoming one too. Our staff is good. Both of our assistants each rejected Ivy/Acc offers to move so that tells you how they are regarded. Will be fun to see what they can do with more resources. We don't have the most, and probably never will, but we are in the game now.
ND, Unc, and to a close extent Duke seem to be separating a bit from the Acc group. Syracuse and Uva not really sure what is going on there. Sarah had the number 1 class 4 years ago and went to a couple of FF, but never seemed to be able to build on it. They also lost their DC and replaced him with someone no one has ever heard of.
