Big win - she’s darn good on the field. We got some luck when they missed the PK,

Then we see inflicted with 3 goals called back for offsides. Our goalie was MVP today.

They have pissed me off immensely and I can’t stand Rapinoe as a person but I won’t root against them.

This is kind of how I feel about it. I want the team to win, and I want the US to take home the most gold, as I always do.

But to me, if there is some pole vaulter who outwardly says he's protesting our flag, turns his back during the national anthem, wears some sort of "F the USA" t-shirt, or whatever, it's not wrong to think he shouldn't represent us at the Olympics. He's the one choosing to be "anti America."

Seems like honoring the country/flag is about as baseline as you can get, as far as showing respect. This whole fallacy that the 'country' is holding them down is the biggest joke there is. It's the PEOPLE they should be mad at, not the country. The country is the ideal and the principle we should all strive for.

She’s not what she once was on the field. She played like shot today. US was very dangerous for 60 minutes, but when they took out Williams, Lloyd, Heath & Mewis, the last 60 was ugly. Naher won that game. Saved a penalty in regulation & then 2 out of 4 in the shootout (Netherlands didn’t miss a PK, she saved all 3).

Look up the Suni Lee story. Biles chose to sit out, so she got replaced by someone who wanted to be there. Another US athlete won gold. I would prefer to give another talented athlete who loves (or at least respects) our country to get her chance to be "the best".

Holy shite. You can like Rappinoe or not. Or think athletes should stand or not. But this is stupid. We are not 17ing Germany.

And the vast majority of the athletes complaining are privileged and spoiled brats. They aren't making a sacrifice to improve some aspect of society. They are either just looking for attention or in the case of US women's soccer, really chapped that men's soccer is wayyyyyy more popular across the globe and as a result they don't get paid more than the men even though they are more successful. That's fine that they do that. But we should just be honest about what it looks like and how it likely comes across to people in other countries, many of whom would risk their lives for a chance to have the privileges that our athletes do.
