I'm no Tiger bobo, but it's good for golf if he can just get back to contending. I don't really want him to win, though, either.

I'll pull for Phil, but I think that ship has sailed. Six runner-up finishes is always going to be the U.S. Open legacy he leaves behind.

I'm pulling for Phil even though with him this year when it starts going south he can't seem to recover. Dustin Johnson is playing well and he is built for US opens

Pulling for Phil also. Would love to see him win a couple of more majors before he hits the senior tour. OFC

Defending champ Brooks Koepka played pretty well last week, and seemed to have a good tune-up for the Open. However on the strength of last week, and 4 consecutive solid rounds, Dustin Johnson has to be a favorite.Normally I would put Jordan Spieth in the mix as well, but his putting has gone south. Perhaps he got it together practicing after sitting out last week.

Don't count out Spieth or JT. Both seem to show up at the big events. Love to see Fowler get a Major. Phil just cant get it done. He had his shots, at least 6 of them I believe. Dustin is playing very well going into this week and with his length you can never count him out.

My sleeper pick is Jon Rahm, especially if hes got a grip on his composure. Course set up for big hitters, and he can pop it.

Just underway, and I would really love to see two of the guys that are playing now have solid tournaments. It would not hurt my feelings to see Charley Hoffman or Matt Kuchar win.

Both look like down to earth guys you'd like to sit down and have a beer with!

I'm not so sure 8 or 9 over after day one is out of it. All it will take is to shoot around par and the guys around par to shoot 74 or 75 today.

This course is crazy difficult..at this time there are 3 golfers on the course with under par rounds today.the projected cut is at +9 right now...more than 20 golfers are at +15 or worse.yesterday there were 189 double bogies or worse...some great shots are not being rewarded because of the crowned greens with shaved edges... if you can make the cut and finish at plus 5 or 6 six on sunday, you may well win this thing

D.J.finishes round 2 sitting at 4 under....just amazing compared to how the rest of the field is floundering...Tiger finishes at +10...likely to miss the cut

I think most of them are biting their tongues about how difficult this course has been set up...Maybe the U.S.G.A. went a little overboard? Add the wind to the difficulty and that's why we are seeing scoring like we have been...Then you see D.J.'S score and realize how amazing it really is.Tommy Fleetwood shot an amazing 66 today in these conditions.

With the way Dustin Johnson is/was composed yesterday and today he's going to be hard to beat.
I agree with ya Gotta. I still think if, going into the weekend +5 or 6 still has a shot. Hard for me to think somewhere along the way DJ won't have a little bad luck. I'm not pulling against him, but this course is winning.

CD you make a valid point no doubt, but Mickelson dissing the routine presser just bothered me somewhat. Phil is normally very sportsmanlike good or bad times. Now Rory is a prima donna, and his response was typical Rory.

Again you make an excellent point, the course is playing hard even for "Open" standards!

McElroy looked unbeatable when he came on tour. When he made the change from Titleist to Nike he is not the same iron player. Fan of Mickelson but his majors wins are over. Hope Dustin brings it home.
