With rebels now being politically incorrect and too insensitive for anyone to handle I am wondering what should be new nickname? I propose the cacti, sinners, gamblers, tourists? Any suggestions?

Just ask Disney if you can turn "rebels" into a Star Wars reference for a few $Billion, problem solved. Maybe. Maybe not.

On the topic of changing nicknames or logos, this also reminds me of an emailer to Bill Burr's podcast to change the Redskins' logo to a potato...

If they are made to change their name that would be funny given the origin of the nickname. It’s not after rebels “of the south” but the general concept of rebelling against the norms. Kinda ironic that they would be told rebelling against the norms is no longer acceptable concept.

I don't know how the Redskins still exist.

Chiefs wouldn't be hard to change the imagery and keep the name if they decided. We have a minor league team nearby (Peoria Chiefs) that changed their imagery to firefighting based stuff. Worked pretty well for them.

that and 94% of native american groups approve of the mascot. so if you're not offended, why should anybody else be. It's a cool mascot
