UNC Wins Opener Vs. NCCU

North Carolina leaves its season opener with a 90-42 victory against N.C. Central in Carmichael Arena. Nyla Brooks led the way with 15 points on 6-12 shooting (3-6 from 3pt). Five players scored 10 points or more. The Tar Heels shot 36-68 (52.9%) from the floor, 8-20 from three and 10-19 from the free throw line.

Laine Grant and Blanca Thomas did not play. Reniya Kelly started, but played just five minutes.

UNC will host Elon on Thursday.

at the UofSC post game Bynum asked "can you give an update on Thomas's physical condition and future availability?" Banghart gave it about 2 seconds of thought, seemingly to try an find a non-answer, but then thought better of it and just said, "No."

Yeah, they will have to work on this and get better with this. We cannot go into another season not being able to shoot FT's. That was one of our biggest problems last year.
