The other day I noticed the menu where the gifs, pictures and emojis are located were greyed out. I am not able to select any of those options when replying/posting new thread.

Click the vertical three dots on the far right and then the brackets. Looks like you're in plain text mode. Once you click them brackets it should take you out of it.
