I caught bits of the game and was surprised at how un-UConn-like last night's performance was. Can't recall the last time that I saw UConn when it didn't show up ready to play. While them losing will make the season more interesting for everyone else, I also would have preferred that it wouldn't be to Baylor.

And, of course, Geno was his typically ungracious self. From the WaPo story: "Baylor outscored UConn 52-10 in the paint. "Are you surprised that they scored 52 points in the paint," Auriemma said. "I would think they would suck if they didn't score 52 points in the paint. They've got every one of our guys by six inches, so we knew that was going to happen, and we were OK with that."

Such a beautiful thing even if it was to Baylor. 68-57!!!!!!!!!
I watched the entire game and Baylor's Bigs were getting secondary shots underneath or kicking it back outside for easy 2 and 3 point shots. Also, I noticed that when UCONN passes the ball around the perimeter trying to get an open three, Baylor's guards and forwards moved out and forced UCONN to either take a bad shot or force the ball back inside, where the Baylor Bigs suffocated UCONN's players. It was a team effort by the Bears and they showed other top teams how to beat the Huskies.

What I learned is that UCONN was so successful in their scoring offense, that they were scoring almost what they scored against Baylor in one half. So Baylor really shut them down and UCONN only shot 29% from the field. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

How is that being ungracious? He knew going into the game we were going to get killed in the paint. Geno was directing his sarcasm at the press for stating the obvious. He knew Baylor's plan was to continually get the ball inside. and he also knew there wasn't much UConn could do to stop it. He was hoping his guards would counter that by shooting well..... they didn't. UConn shot something like 29%, partly because Baylor played great defense, and partly because we just stunk. .... they average over 50%. UConn does NOT play well after long breaks.... it was a 10 or 11 day break before the Oklahoma game and they struggled mightily. Oklahoma isn't good enough to take advantage of it.... they struggled equally as much with Baylor after a 10 day layoff. Baylor IS good enough to take advantage of it. At the end of the day, it's just one game and doesn't mean anything. I think a loss will do them good.

I still don't agree that the loss "will do them good", which a lot of folks on the UConn board also think. Granted, it won't hurt them and Geno will turn it into a teaching moment, but I don't think they are going to be better (or worse) because they lost. That they were challenged, I agree, was probably a good thing for them. That they lost, meh, not really so much.

I see no reason for the doom and gloom on the UConn board - neither do the mods, it has gotten so prevalent they have a thread about it. I would argue that, if this isn't the best UConn team ever (and I'm sure it isn't), it is still a very excellent team with every expectation to make the Final Four - as did other UConn teams that might not have been among the best.

And for those who wonder - I don't root "for" UConn, but I don't waste my efforts rooting against them either. My wife actually likes Kim Mulkey, (I'm neutral on her) so we would have probably been rooting for Baylor if we had watched this game.

Uconn lost. Yawn. Doesn’t mean much at all. They will still be in the national championship game.
I no longer feel any emotion when they win or when they lose. Hats off to the dynasty, but I’m soooo over them.

This is the start. Overtime, being in the AAC will kill them.

LOL! UConn loses 1 regular season game since November 2014 and it’s the start of their demise. Now you sound like one of the doom and gloom posters on the boneyard! I have some comments about the Baylor game...... UConn shot 29%, lowest in a game in 20, yes 20, seasons. You think that’ll happen again in a rematch? Ya know, parity is getting better in WBB, which I think is great. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other programs. UConn sets the bar and other teams getting there. Lastly, everyone talks about the AAC being weak, and there’s no argument against that. It is a weak WBB conference. That said, everyone was saying that about he Big East at one time. Look what happened with that conference. It’s possible the AAC gets stronger, no?

Uconn losing one regular season game every 3-4 years is considered a big deal because they are so far superior to everyone else in women's college basketball.

Well, you know, the start of the downfall will be losing a single game. (j/k)
