Are they still using aluminum bats in college ball? I never understood why they did, heard it was a cost issue. However I do like the power and HRs. Not sure how good Big East pitching is vs. the rest of the country. Hopefully this can continue against top 25 pitching.

Uconn's only issue is, probably good, but not great pitching. They only have 2 good starters, 1 is OK and the 4th starter is a problem.

How is Xavier's pitching, any good? UConn has been seriously raking of late and I am wondering if X has the arms to stop it or even slow it down.

They split 4 games @ Xavier, but tough to tell on X's pitching, they play in a band box , that's a bigtime hitters park. Also the series out there was right after Uconn hadn't played in 2 weeks because of covid shutdown.

Well the Huskies knocked out Xavier's 1st team All-Big East pitcher ( Nick Zwack ) in 3 innings with 5 runs.

Box Score

Thursday's highlights vs. Xavier ...(Fri's game will once again be on Youtube's BE digital network):

I don't know who the UConn closer is in that video posted above but I LOVE to see a closer punch guys out with high fastballs to end a game. Doesn't get any better than that. I am a fan of that dude.

You or most husky fans either. That kid is a 6'6" 256lb FR named Garrett Coe from Lakeside , CT ( The Gunnery ), who only pitched 6.2 innings total, in blowouts, before yesterday's 3 inning mop-up. He was at Uconn but didn't make the 35 man active roster in 2020.

But looking at his stats now this year he has good numbers ( 0.93 ERA/ 9.2 innings/ 12 K's)... If he keeps it up he'll have a nice Husky future.

So they play the winner of the Creighton - Xavier loser's bracket game? Doesn't the winner of that game have to beat UConn twice, so that there are 2 chances for UConn to win the championship?

Now 7-3 in the 7th. Amazing that former Hall Of Fame MLB pitcher Bert Blyleven is FS2 color analyst tonight. Blyleven had one of the best curveballs in the history of MLB. Was his bread and butter pitch.

The latest bracketology has UConn as a 2 seed in the Fayetteville Regional, where the #1 seed is overall #1 seed Arkansas, the SEC Champions:
Total BS putting Uconn as a 2 in a regional vs. the overall #1, when they have #25 rpi. when teams like
Nebraska & Ga Tech with rpi's in the 40's get to play as 2's vs. regional 1 like Notre Dame (#7) and Tenn (#4). Northeast bias at it's best.

EDIT....so much for some site named D1Baseball, they didn't have clue about what they're writing about !

BTW.....Did anyone see what the Stags are doing this year ???? (below) # 2 in country in RPI ??? I know they don't go down south and play the big boys. But the MAAC has some solid teams and I don't care who they play...nobody goes 35-1 !!!! ...(ps. they were just 2-9 in the 2020 shut down year, so where did that come from ??)

Nice Job by the Stags
, (37-3) made it as an at-large despite losing 2 in their conference tourney. Also shout out to Central Connecticut (28-13) who made it in..... and gives the state 3 baseball teams in the tourney
