You're right. What was I thinking lol. I guess my NBA schedule kicked in.They play at home after wisky BUT then have to fly back to PSU, which is probably even worse.

I don't really care who liked my post, everything I said has been factually correct. Blowing a 24 point lead down to 4, with Bennett Stirtz on the bench with 4 fouls, in front of the biggest crowd that the Men's team has seen in years, at the beginning of conference play, with fans openly debating all week that this is a "must win" game or not, all within the context of what McCollum has been building towards all season was worthy of concern that we would lose and would, in fact, be disastrous. QC is in another league from anyone else when it comes to doom posting, and more than often, I put him on ignore during game threads. Why am I not surprised at who liked your post. Football, basketball, mens or womens, its the same guys at the first sign of any bad play, "oh, were going to lose", "we suck", ", "fire all the coaches", "this will set us back for years". Then when we win, right back like "oh, I knew we had it in the bag all along". "Great win Hawks", rah, rah.......EVERY game. Its like ground hog day for losers........
Caught the tail end of Iowa/UCLA game segment the BTN studio guys were doing during 'The B1G Show', and Revsine spoke very highly of Iowa, saying "Credit to Coach McCollum and the Hawkeyes, who's defense is just suffocating! Everyone!!".
Who ever would have thought/dreamt we'd hear something like that at any time in the preceding 15 years?
And the greatest thing is that as stout as the defense is or can be, the offense is right there with it. They may not be running and chucking like FM's teams did, but they are as much, if not more than, as efficient as FM's best squads were.
So unbelievably nice to see an Iowa team play an all-around game and winning that way. Instead of hoping & praying that everyone is on and hitting shots to overwhelm the opponent, like in the most recent past.
Sometimes ya gotta win ugly.A 13-pt home win, is a 13-pt home win, against a better squad in the B1G .... but man was a lot of that 2nd half very I don't even know what the hell that was.
I know UCLA was a big part of it, but Iowa seemed to have called the game over at half and needed to be slapped a couple times to realize 'oh crap, the game hasn't been decided yet!'.
Bennett Stirtz is amazing. Iowa loses this game without him, probly even by about 20.
Crazy.Sometimes ya gotta win ugly.![]()
If you love the 'Cock, type 1.
If you hate the 'Cock, type 2.
Yes. I’m glad the refs called the hand checks seemingly both ways. DJ has usually had a pretty good crew, imo.Nice hard fought win against an another really tough opponent. Big Ten basketball as it’s meant to be. Stop whining about the refs.
Ben motioned to shoot
Just win, baby and they will come.Turns out carver can get loud
I’m fine with in game behavior. Emotions run high & a fan is just trying to find any psychological angle they can sort of speak.I love pretentious pussies coming in after the game acting high and mighty. Makes it easier to point and laugh at you.
While much of your post is true, There are posters here who start from the first play of every game regardless of the sport or gender with every worst case scenario and negative thing about the players and coaches. Its ridiculous. Apologies if you were caught up in my comments. I would say that what we've seen from Ben at this point is that one games outcome will not influence the teams outcome going forward. He's too good a coach for that, so I'm not sure about must wins. Most fans are seeing that this team will scrap and claw regardless of their not being "4 star recruits", and they play true team basketball. They're winning the fans over as is the coach who is engaged with the fan base unlike any we've seen in a long long time.I don't really care who liked my post, everything I said has been factually correct. Anyone who comes into a live thread after not being around all game saying "haha I knew we would win, anyone who doubted this team are pathetic!" are as pretentious as they are stupid. Game threads are for live, raw reactions. And mine was totally justified given the situation, while also not being definitive and saying "we're losing and the game is over."
None of this is hard to figure out, but the average age and IQ of most posters on this forum are around 60. So it shouldn't surprise me.
Of course. But two things can be true: (1) Great fans can even make Carver loud. (2) Carver is an awful venue for basketball.Turns out carver can get loud
At least two of the "fouls" were not fouls. Go watch it again. Overall, the officiating was about as good as you could ever expect, but it sure as helll wasn't great.BS said post game that this was his first game of his college career that he's been in foul trouble.
The number of FTs can be misleading. Like if your team shoots 20 FTs but should have shot 30, and the other team shoots 10 but should have shot 5.We've shot 8 more fts
"Lapses"? You're not always going to shoot well. Other teams are good too. That wasn't Bucknell. And the Hawkeyes won by 13. I'll take it.In the end, the Hawks wanted it more. Gotta clean up these lapses though.
UCLA had 22 in a full half. And they got 5 of those in the final few seconds. LOLIowa with 17 points in nearly a half o basketball
Ooops. Hawks win by 13 . . . and Stirtz hits a 40-footer at the buzzer. This ain't Fran's faint of heart. This is Ben's bulldogs. Ben didn't come here to lose. Were losing this at the buzzer
I believe the metrics say Iowa is the most efficient offense in the entire country. And that's exactly what Ben's system is all about . . . that and defense and rebounding and winning.Caught the tail end of Iowa/UCLA game segment the BTN studio guys were doing during 'The B1G Show', and Revsine spoke very highly of Iowa, saying "Credit to Coach McCollum and the Hawkeyes, who's defense is just suffocating! It was definitely a tale of two halves. Good thing Iowa has learned how to play defense.UCLA had 22 in a full half. And they got 5 of those in the final few seconds. LOL
More like turning it over than anything else."Lapses"? You're not always going to shoot well. Other teams are good too. That wasn't Bucknell. And the Hawkeyes won by 13. I'll take it.
BOOYEEAAHHH!!If Stuart Scott were still living, he'd say Bennett Stirtz is as cool as the other side of the pillow.
Glad we didn't choke and lose to that piece of crap Cronin.

Carstensen looks like he got better over the years. The Doug Stanhope looking ref was a bum, not impressed with that guy at all. The two bald dudes were fine though.

Wish I had fond memories of him, but next to Bain he was a saint.I’ve always felt DJ gave Iowa the benefit of the doubt. He’s been my favorite official for several years.
