That UCLA/Iowa score certainly gives me some hope we can challenge the Hawkeyes. I wasn't optimistic about that game before yesterday.

Iowa is down to their 5th QB a walk on who was playing scout team linebacker 2 weeks ago. Sadly he didn’t look any worse than Raiola has….

I don’t really feel any different about our team. Just enjoy iowa losing. It makes God happy, and that makes me happy. 😊

What’s this “we” crap? Some of us who were paying attention weren’t surprised. 😉
Exactly. They were also very competitive in those games against highly ranked teams except Indiana. And I think we know something about Indiana blasting teams out of the water.
If Indiana beats Ohio St I will not be surprised. They remind me a lot of OU in 2000.
Also, I think USC is the best team left on our schedule despite having a losing record. I think it is winnable IF we find an offense and click like we did in the first half against CU.

How's knows who they are offensively and have a system. They know how they wanna play regardless of who the QB is. Not to take anything from UCLA of course cause he's clearly a step below the starter. That said they play similar.

We don't have a system. We have a bunch of plays and a bunch of packages that we randomly run onto the field . Depending on who is out there u can get a pretty good idea what we are going to do. If we go to a back up QB that goes 10 fold.

Hope DH can help at least get us to a bowl so we can move on next year to whomever the new OC will be.

So you are basically saying we lose to SC? 😆 🤣

Yeah, I'm not sure if I feel any better that a team most thought was a cellar dweller with a HC without any HC experience is now running through the Big 10 west like a boss. Their whole athletic department is in dire financial straights to top it off. We are so clueless.

What I bolded sums it up. Way too predicable based on player personnel. No rhythm ever created.

If Nebraska had played even remotely competent football we would’ve beaten UCLA. Until something changes Nebraska sucks. Don’t confuse the issue by talking about how good UCLA is.

I swear we’ve run zone read to the left with Haarberg like almost every time he’s in short yardage situations. And I’m not even sure it’s a read cause HH keeps it every single time. 😳 We have to get some more creativity and variety out of our short yardage packages. Hopefully DH has ideas we can actually execute. Tall order…

Bienemy worked with Andy Reid for years. UCLA’s offense has improved as their QB has gotten more comfortable in it. They couple competent QB play with a commitment to running the ball. Imagine that. Again, there’s more to being a head coach than what Foster has had to do so far. The first step was he hired very good coordinators and he’s coupled that with some good left over talent. It’s yet to be seen if he can navigate boosters, recruiting and NiL. I also believe Bienemy will go back to the NFL very quickly.

. Our OC coupled with a freshman QB has killed us.

At this point you either put HH out there 5 times a game and have him pass on a few of them or just leave him on the bench. Absolutely no one cares about HH on a zone read or throwback pass. Especially not a long-developing high risk, throwback for 10 yards.

I vote the bench since we'll likely need him healthy.

Again, that doesn't make me feel any better that a broke program with a rb coach as HC was smart enough and able to hire good coordinators while we have a dud. Bienemy has a $550,000 base salary, according to google. Satterfield is $1.4 million? Insanity.

Maybe UCLA has improved during the season - I've heard rumors that such things are possible

I know a lot of coaches who’ve made a **** load of money in this industry who don’t believe such a thing is possible. And most of those guys coached for Nebraska over the last 15 years…

by far the most hilarious part is all the idiots here who fell over each other to mock UCLA’s head coach because of his performance at B1G media days

Teams who have to travel across the country to play have much worse records. This is why allowing UCLA to come in and beat us was such a big deal. Even if they are as good as us, the travel should have negated a lot of that. This new unbalanced scheduling, with huge travel weeks, back to back road weeks is going to make it impossible to compare opponents. UCLA beating Nebraska in Nebraska is a much bigger upset than UCLA beating Iowa at home.

I laughed at Foster and I also said “DAMN!” when he hired Eric Bienemy. Both things can be true. Foster is a awkward dude and Bienemy was an elite hire.

UCLA is not a bad team. NU is. Iowa is not a bad team. NU still is. Iowa will always be the bigger upset. Until they have an 8 year bowl drought, that's the way it is. NU is a **** program until they aren't. So getting beat by a decent team isn't really eye opening for us anymore. Anytime NU wins against a team that hasn't been on an 8 year bowl drought, it should be seen as an upset. We are not a good team right now.

Nah. UCLA is a decent team playing its best football right now. How about we give them a little credit? UCLA is a better football team than Nebraska in every aspect. But if you factor in all of the resources pumped into the program and the hero worship bestowed upon the team, the results that they churn out year after year certainly sucks.

Not really because Nebraska sucks. Someone needed to say it.
Still doesn't matter. UCLA obviously wore out at the end of the game, we played such a terrible 3 quarters of ball, basically handed them the game and still had a chance. Sadly, winning in college football will come down to scheduling, cross-country trips, back to back road games, injuries, mid-season redshirts a lot more than building an awesome roster and setting that against another awesome team. Still will be fun but fans will have to adjust to teams just not being as dominant and having weird losses when it is the 2nd of back to back road weeks, traveling across the country facing a team coming off of a bye that just got healthy.

Look at what Iowa has done at home vs Big Ten teams this year. On the road they have been a$$ vs Michigan State and UCLA.
It’s amazing if you are optimistic about playing at Iowa.
