Don't mind making enemies cause you're winning, but I wouldn't have minded getting through the rest of the offseason without the outside noise.

If going with something like this, maybe you send it directly to recruits only. Putting it out to everyone makes everyone laughing at is a guarantee.
I like the tweet. Top elite recruits are pro players in training. Showing them they can make that money by coming to Rutgers first to develop where the coaches can get you pro ready is what we should be selling
Exactly. And it certainly is drawing a lot of attention on Twitter!
They have connections with the current staff, which is probably more important than attending RU.
Except almost none of the players they are claiming actually went to Rutgers, or have any connection.
Ummm, exactly...just a wild guess, but the total earnings of Rutgers players I am sure is far less
It's dumb because it features players from other programs. None of those players are earning money because of Rutgers and they are from programs we compete directly within in the region for in recruiting. Plus I hate the "cha-ching" bit. I get that top players want to get to the NBA and cash in but it just feels sleazy.
The current coaches on the RU staff coached the players in the picture. Whether you agree the tweet is a good idea or not, it does make sense. Just like Chris Ash can say he developed Eli Apple and others and prepared them for the NFL.
It's weak. Put it in the media guide, fine. Post it on Twitter where people can respond/troll and with a cha ching reference. Not great but it will be forgotten.
Embarrassing. What a strange thing to put out. An incredibly roundabout way of promoting our program. More amazed that it hasn't been deleted.

I like the tweet. The Rutgers men's basketball program has been the definition of apathy for what seems like forever. A tweet like this makes people think and speak out about RU hoops, which hasn't happened among the masses for a long, long time. If people are talking about the tweet, and they obviously have, it has done its job.
Mike Rice? I think our bad publicity quota has been filled for the next decade or two.
It's absurd and Dana O'Neil of ESPN basically shames RU for doing it.

Every coach touts the players he coached, no matter where they coached them. That's recruiting. The guy at Elon probably tells everyone they he coached Curry. Dana O'Neill is a moron.
And then there's this on Twitter--the Marquette SB Nation Account:
In my eyes, this is not as big a gaffe. The strange thing is that our tweet is bragging not about the players our coaches have helped, which would be direct and simple, but it's bragging about the money they've made, coupled with the cha-chang caption and it's just complete cringe. If it had said, "Rutgers staff has coached X# of NBA-All Stars and Champions," then it wouldn't be so laughable. To me, the difference between the two is fairly drastic. In the end, this is all pretty meaningless.
When has Dana O’Neil ever written anything nice about Rutgers? She loves to bash RU. Of course, she's a NJ native who went to Penn State ...
And of course Deadspin posts this and mentions Assistant Coach Karl Hobbs as the sole justification of the brag, omitting the head coach Steve Pikiell and Brandin Knight from the equation entirely and leading to the inevitable flood of stupid comments.
There's a big difference between talking to recruits about the players you've coached and tweeting something like this. If they had made this tweet about the coaching connection it wouldn't even bother me. The $$ aspect and the cha-ching are just dumb.
Are some of you people serious? This is exactly why we brought in this coaching staff. They are legit coaches. Something we've been missing for a long while. Previous coaching staffs <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< this coaching staff, especially in terms of top level experience and recruiting.

If Syracuse's new offensive coordinator was previously the WR coach at LSU and put out something similar, with pictures of ODB, Jarvis Landry, Dwayne Bowe, etc about their total amount of NFL guaranteed money earned, we would all be KILLING them for this.
Only fair when the shoe is on our foot.
Finally....people are talking about Rutgers basketball again.......way to go coaches!
