That paper is dying. Emig is probably one of the top three writers they have. I’m ok with an article about Shake, but I wish they would show a comparable level of affection for the home town team every once in awhile. Instead we are eagerly awaiting Hines’ investigative journalism on how we have three players in the first year class with last names that begin with “J.”
I didn't like the focus on recruiting between OU and SMU (although I recall that was Milton's finalists), as if Milton was too good to be at SMU but should have gone to the MECCA of college basketball (which is an empty Lloyd Noble except for OSU and KU or when there is a surprise superstar frosh).
The article should have been about the game first, secondarily about Milton. I still want a USC chant when he is introduced.

Milton should have never exhibited the negativism toward TU as that never is good for your image. Most recruits simply thank the coaches for recruiting them and move on. No more gestures to the bench or the TU crowd when you make a three Shake. It is not cool. You never saw this type of attitude from Waymon Tisdale toward TU even though TU had been recruiting him . Waymon was always gracious to the TU coaches and fans.
An article about someone like him plastered on the front page is likely to alienate the Tulsa fans who read the paper. Below it was the Henderson article. I thought the Henderson article was good.

You may get a few of his former teammates to show up, but most of those kids have scattered by now. Mine's off serving in the Air Force so that's one less trouble maker to deal with.
Never understood grown *** men heckling college kids. Refs are certainly fair game though.
Seriously, if we don’t want these articles then our program has to be good enough to win those battles with an in conference rival. I can understand losing the battle to a P5 school. Don’t like it. But, I understand it.
But we must have a program so strong that the in conference competition can’t scale the walls we have built around this region.
Till then we’re just acting out of inadequacy.
