Quite an improvement in some areas versus the first of the year. Much improved in rebounding, free throw shooting, and FG defense.

Still among the worst in the nation (#332) in steals (we barely beat out Cornell, McNeese and Marist),
The half court trap has kept us from falling further.

Also near the bottom in Blocks (Thank God we have Jeffries or we would be last) and still very poor on assists.

All in all much improvement from the dismal stats after the first month of play. I think the fine tuning of the match up zone has really made a difference. And these guys rebound with the best of them for their size.

Hey, I never thought we'd be able to finish #4 in the conference. I know we finish the year with some tough games, but so does UCF and Memphis is prone to choking. If we can take care of ECU like we should, then split UCF and Temple at home (and lose to Cinci on the road)- we should be able to hold our #4 regular season ranking. It seems unlikely that anyone above us loses enough for us to gain.

I don't think we can win the tournament. WSU & Cinci are mighty strong, Houston would be tough. Odds are we have to beat 2 of the 3 to win the thing and that's a tall order.

The #4 seed means a bye - which means we won't play USF for a padded W. That makes it tough for us to get to 20 wins unless we go 3/4 to finish out the season and beat UCF/Temple/Memphis/or UCONN in the tournament. That's certainly possible, but a #5 seed and a W over South Florida would be an easier road to 20 wins - though a harder road to advance further.

Not that 20 wins is a magic milestone in the age of 32 game seasons, but in our conference it is a signal that you can play some basketball. It gives us something to built on.

Why does everyone think we are going to lose to ucf or memphis? Cincy is the only game left we are winning. When we win tomorrow we will have a good hold onto #4.

Both UCF and Temple would be favored in a neutral court game. At home, they are both very close to pick 'ems (Tulsa +1 vs UCF and -1 vs Temple, by Sagarin predictor). The Vegas line opened at Tulsa -2 vs UCF. So a conservative guess is we split the series.

(or were you just asking from a fan "don't be negative" perspective?)

As Jesse implied, the line say it all. They are tougher teams to play and we have not had an off game that cost us a win. That comes sometime or another. I just hope it comes against Temple when we have fourth locked up. I dread it won't take that long though.

The line is based on results from earlier in the season. We gagged away the game at temple and ucf struggles to score. We are going to beat both of them.

Hope you're right, just playing the odds on the forecast.

I am with tupatsfan in this one. UCF has major issues scoring the basketball. They’re pretty much a one man show with Taylor.

Temple has not played well here. The 2 games Temple has come here since we joined the AAC, we’ve beaten them 55-39 and 74-55. All the games in Philly have been within a possession. Tells me Haith’s style matches up well against Dunphy’s
