Larry Lewis is doing an incredible job on these position breakdowns...

When talking about players like Jeremy Smith, Kolton Shindelar and Trevis Gipson, the often overused word “upside” comes up. A lot. And for good reason...

I have hope for the DL this year. We had some young guys who had to step up last year and they gain some valuable experience. We have one 300lb DT with no game experience but have two DE playing with past rush abilities playing DT. Im counting on Mouton to come to training camp around 6'3 280lb. This would help the rotation and he could gain extra weight during the season. We have two other DT in the 290 range that could help against a running attack.
I was all for using the incoming freshman to help the DL this year. Im backing off that idea now. For reason being, they look like one of the best DL recruits in Tulsa for years. The front four of Nelson, Stevenson, Robinson and Williams if possible be redshirted this year would be a major plus for years. Its going to be hard because Stevenson Robinson and Williams could contribute right away. Robinson and Williams can play both DE and DT. Im counting on Michael Rios to hold down the backup DT spot with one of the senior DT Hayden or Uwaezoui.
