I didn't realize Greg Bell had immediate eligibility. Is it because he left before playing 4 games?
Patience. They're waiting until after Spring practice to prioritize what the greatest need is for help.
We do have a couple holes to fill, but how many are a true upgrade? We don't know the story for most of these guys, but a lot of those guys transfer down in class from one school to the next. So how many are going to come in here and beat out what we already have? I think they are approaching it the right way in that they are awfully selective.
There's got to be some overrated five/four stars on there who have baggage or are too lazy, don't want to compete, whatever. Take NU's transfers for instance. Greg Bell, looks good on paper, but he looked slow on tape and quit the team at the first sign of adversity. Who takes Bell? I would think a Big Sky or Mountain West conference team. Guy Thomas. Conference USA, maybe? We had a couple other guys who transferred to a weaker Pac 10 school, but that was more due to a connection to the previous staff.
Committed to Iowa, made a late visit to Nebraska. Was tied in with KJJ. Then flipped to Arkansas late.
Johnson is the one at UCLA. Many thought he was headed to Nebraska in the “Calibraska” days, ended up picking UCLA in one of those video deals.
It doesn't really matter all that much because no P5 school will touch him now. He'll likely wind up at some smaller name school. In fact rumor had it that he wanted to come back to the Husker football team after finding little interest out there for his services. But the Husker coaches said no way was he welcome back on the team now. He ruined his reputation by being a malcontent.
