When a student athlete declares for the transfer portal are they still permitted to attend classes through the rest of the semester?

They can stay to finish the semester regardless of whether they are entering the portal.

When I was at Arizona State in Spring of 1983 I had four baseball players in my Indoor Plant class which had a total of 20 students and they only showed up when there was an exam which was rarely. They were not seen during the rest of the time. The professor was about 75 and he just smiled and said that's the way things go. BTW Odibee McDowell was a student.

Baseball players miss more class time than players in any other sport. Bob MacDonald (former Met and Yankee) was in my Sport in Sociology course in the spring of 1986. He was present for no more than five classes during the semester.

I was on that team with Bobby........ I will say, I went to class more often than not but I skipped class just as much as any other college student, especially Friday classes!

With all the academic support these kids get..probably learning on the road/offsite/ and the rest...tutoring.... they likely have no need to attend classes. How much $$$ is THAT worth?

No Tuition, special housing, special food, and the above..what a life.

When was the last time you heard of an athlete being academically ineligible?
