This is a disaster. Rt 18 in gridlock for several miles. Can’t get near the RAC. What a mess. Expect lots of empties.

Students had filled the lots and were leaving class around 6. Made it a complete disaster. Trying to empty and fill the same lots simultaneously.

You guys need to go in the back way, it's so much easier.

That's what she said - in case everyone was thinking it. But yes, don't go in via Rt. 18.

I simply don't understand why people don't do this in the days of traffic apps. I go in the back way all the time (heh-heh), since that's the most direct route from Metuchen, but even people who might normally come up 18 should know enough to just not take the exit to the RAC - drive up River Road to Ceder Lane and head in the back, even though it's longer. That'll take 10 minutes instead of 30.

Both front and rear entrances to the RAC were a crawl. To top it off, at the rear entrance, parking staff (not traffic cops) blocked the incoming lane from making a RIGHT TURN into campus regardless of exiting cars ever requiring additional space. Never seen anything like it.

I park in the student/faculty lot further away (105), so I never see any traffic on any day, coming in from Kilmer to Road 2 to Suttons Lane and it doesn't look like Suttons Lane from there to the RAC lots is that bad, but then again, I don't go that far on Suttons (assuming one has to go to Rockafeller to get to the lots) to be sure - are you saying even that approach is bad? That's the back way I'm talking about. And Joyce Kilmer past the student center and cinema is never backed up coming from Road 2 - is it hard to get from the intersection of Joyce Kilmer and Rockafeller to the actual paid lots?

When exiting the RAC parking on hospital road after the game there was a steady stream of cars leaving the parking deck. It looks like the new deck was open tonight.

If the green lot people stay right and others stay left entering it would help.

Yellow lot people and day of gamers need to use left lane not the right

I’ve done route 18 all season and never had a major issue. Tonight was a complete mess. It took my almost 30 minutes to go less than 2 miles. I was in crawling traffic by the river dorms at around 6:25 and made it into the RAC a few minutes after tip.

And by the time I got into the lot people were driving around everywhere looking for spaces. Luckily I found a student leaving and stole his spot.

They need to do a better job if the sell outs continue next year. People coming from 30-60 minutes away on a weeknight can only leave so early from work.

We passed the Avenue E after seeing the clusterhump there and drove onto Suttons Lane. It was there on the corner of Suttons Lane and Hospital Road that a parking staff attendent was playing traffic cop stopping everyone from making RIGHT TURNS for literally no damn reason.

I have no idea why they couldn't force the students to park elsewhere a few nights a year. We're talking about roughly 6 or 7 days a year (assuming most of the home games are either on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; or played over winter break). I would block off the first few sections of the yellow lot and only allow student parking in the far back which would facilitate their exit since they would only need to exit from one part of it and you wouldn't have as much crossover of traffic.

This was the worst traffic of the entire season. They seemed to have figured it out the past few games by having two lanes turning left onto Hospital Road and NOT scanning parking passes. For some reason tonight they had only one lane turning left and then some nutcase was flagging everyone to the left instead of having two lanes into the lots. The one officer directing traffic onto Hospital Road was stopping traffic coming into the game every couple minutes to allow a handful of cars to come in the other direction. I really hope they figure things out for the next game and the future because these issues could be solved so easily with a bit of common sense. I almost feel like everything was set up tonight to deliberately cause extra aggravation - Piscataway police? Not sure...

Rutgers needs to do something about this for game day. Need to limit student parking after a certain time and easing ticket violations for that night

Sorry, I'm confused. If you're coming from Suttons Lane (presumably from road 3 after passing Avenue E and turning left on Suttons) with the RAC on your left and you get to Hospital Road, why would you want to make a right when the parking lot is on your left? Or were you not coming in the back way or did I miss something? What I wonder is if one is coming up Suttons the back way (from Road 3 or Road 2 or even Ethel or School St), is there not a way into the RAC lot from Rockafeller, before even reaching Hospital Rd (or even directly into the lot from Suttons)?

Opposite direction. Think coming from 287, not Highland Pk.

Goes back to my original point, then. Why would anyone come in from 287, presumably down South Washington or Stelton to Metlar's Lane and then Sutton's Lane, knowing how bad that can be? Why not go further down Stelton to School St. or Ethel and come in the back way on Sutton's? I'm assuming they let people get into the RAC lots from Suttons heading that way, correct? Same thing heading up 18 - why not get off at River Rd and come in the back way up Cedar Lane and in the back way?
