Comments on the Sestito tryout ?? Lord knows the Pens need a horse somewhere on the roster to handle the Zac Rinaldos, Tom Wilsons, Chris Neils, and Fraser McLarens of the world.....and their only tough guy last season was a badly undersized (and as we all know, badly over-penalized) Steve Downie. I figure he signs a contract to play the Steve MacIntyre/George Parros role and only dresses against teams like the Bruins, Cryers and Craps; maybe he plays 35-40 games splitting time with Scuderi (who's I consider their 7th D-man). Meanwhile, glad to see that Ehrhoff surfaced somewhere; since the Kings are reasonably deep in numbers on defense even without Voynov, he probably won't be asked to play big minutes on what I assume will be their 3rd pairing (and can move up if necessary). As we may have talked about earlier, everything I read indicated he was holding out for a multi-year deal for at least $4 million per; the fact he signed for 1 year @ $1.5 million indicates to me everyone considered him (badly) damaged goods. But he better think about playing at least 70-75 games next season if he has any prayer at that 3 year/$10-12 million deal he's going to want next summer at 34 years old. Also, what do you think about the Giordano deal ?? Man, the talking heads had been saying he was in line for $8 million USD/season, but ends up settling for under $7 million. Honestly, I haven't watched him play enough to know how good he really is; but some act as though he's as important to Calgary as Subban is to the Habs. If that's the case, the Flames made out pretty good.
