Surprised Iowa is #23 in the coaches, but then a #20 NET would indicate they should've stayed in the AP rankings too. Iowa has lost four games, three to #2 Iowa State on the road by 4 points, @ Minnesota by 3, and at home to #13 Illinois by 6. A shot here or there and you're looking at a one-loss team. I'm confident some other teams could make a similar case, but are those other teams #20 or better in the NET?

Anyway, it's a shame that the basketball season, so far, has a feel similar to the football season: A good, competitive team that can compete with most anyone but just can't quite get over the hump.

Throw in the flu that's been ravaging the Hawkeyes and, well, I guess nobody said it would be easy. And now all they have to do is visit #5 Purdue and the fellas from Bloomington. It could be a long week, but survive it the best you can and go on a run. What else can ya do?

BTW: Wisconsin winning @ Ann Arbor was a pretty big surprise. If Iowa is mostly healthy by Wednesday night, is there any way they could pull off a similar upset @ West Lafayette where ISU ran PU outta their own gym a while back?
