BLUF: Next season will be different.

Some of you guys suck ***:

Pope raided Jackson State, grabbed MO (most sought after assistant in CBB) and now is on track to bring in Daeshun Ruffin, who absolutely terrorized opponents, some will scoff at his height 5’8 barefooted, 5’10 with shoes, though he plays like he’s 6’6, he has a 96-inch wingspan and a 58-inch vertical! Yeah, he‘s a career 30% from three shooter, though that doesn’t tell the full story.

There’s also rumor JQ is coming back, hence all of the cats leaving via the portal, they’re freeing up money, according to polymarket, $5M, which is a steal, dude is an absolute beast and a force to be reckoned with.

He’a waiting, intentionally, to announce Tyran Stokes, then he will build out the roster, he‘s never lost out on a player he’s gone after himself, his track record speaks for itself, believe.

Two things can be true at once:

1. It's a common trait that when things haven't gone well recently, a circle of posters on social media that's focused on one thing, in this case this program, will try to 'over negative' each other in an effort to receive the most attention. This happens on every team forum. I've literally seen Louisville fans claim they won't win another football game if their team loses in week 6 or something.

2. Buddy, there's really not a lot to be positive about at this point in time. But hey, might be a good idea to just step away from the board until around Derby time. See who we've got on the team by then.

Pope is truly in a rock and a hard spot, unlike anything we've seen in a long time, he has to get three big time portal players at minimum, we are talking starters-day one impact performers and more importantly the egos and drama that will come with everyone coming in fresh, going to be a substantial challenge.

Michigan built their team through the portal. It can happen if the pieces fit.
This is what I believe will occur, at this juncture, next week will radically change things:

Mason Williams 100%
Kam Williams - 70%
Colin Chandler - 20%
Malachi Moreno - 90%
Braydon Hawthorne - 100%
Mo Dioubate - 50%
JQ - 0%
Trent Noah - 20%
AJ - 40%
Daeshun Ruffin - 85%
Brett Decker - 50%
Tyran Stokes - 10%
Camren Hunter - 40%
Finley Bizjack - 40%
Chris Washington Jr. 75%
Dink Pate 25%

I had to stop at Mo Williams being the most sought after assistant. 90% of this forum didnt even know he was a coach and none of us certainly thought he was anything great
They did this years ago when Gillispie was here. Same thing, Gillispie was about to be sought after by everyone, he’s ahead the game getting Zolo. Dakota Euton was wanted by everyone including Duke. I remember coming on and making a post about how bad it was at the Oxford Inn at ole Miss with Gillispie drinking and all the players looking like they were at a funeral, got jumped hard core. It was actually way worse for that, there’s only a few who refuse to see the reality this time. But I don’t get it.

I will say KSR has made the MO signing sound like it was the acquisiton of the summer, I strongly disagree, up to this point, he's not accomplished anything from a coaching perspective, sure he did it to bring some on the floor credibility, though believe he's a downgrade from Jason Hart and Alvin Brooks.

The other issue is will he be able to replace the players he is running off with better players. If not he is making it worse to fix the money issues he created. Plus if Garrison or jasper go somewhere and does well it makes him look even worse to fans but also next years recruits. It a lose lose situation for Pope now.

I agree 100%, honestly don't even believe he ran off Hart and Brooks as assistants, believe they left on their own accord, seeing what was coming. Jasper will be a force, after getting in the weight room and building muscle and playing with discipline, he will be paid to play somewhere for years to come.

Mo's stance on recruiting is refreshing. He understands that dollars talk in today's sport and he's enough of a star and a presence in Nike to pull some strings and have some gravity finishing deals – a weakness of Pope's.

Brooks is an okay recruiter in Texas, but not outside of it, apparently. Then we have Hart, who didn't have to recruit for the G-League. So, that's one place where Mo should improve our team. Dollars, star power, Nike, and recruiting experience » recruiting acumen.

I also think Mo, who was in the NBA for a long career, understands how to prep for the NBA and how to manage big personalities in the locker room.

I'm excited for the Mo hire and I really want to see him on the recruiting trail ASAP. Maybe he's great. Maybe he isn't. Only time will tell. Regardless, we had to make some changes.

Yeah, will be interesting to see, though definitely agree, change was desperately needed especially as it pertains to recruitment. I would to see us pick up Rondo, by all accounts he has a brilliant basketball IQ.

Amazing basketball IQ and someone I'd love to see coach our defense. Not sure if he'd clash with Pope like he did with his HCs in the league, but that's something to consider. I don't know if two former star PGs would work well together on the staff, but I'm all for giving it a shot.

Of Rondo wants to get into coaching, though, he really needs to start somewhere and work his way up. Taking a chance on someone without coaching experience isn't something I think Pope can afford. But, again, I'd be interested to see it play out. The talent is almost certainly there.

No truer words.

Didn't Pope say 1% of the fans had issues with him. He needs to pull his head out of his a>> and wake up to reality.
It’s more like 1% still believe. No hyperbole. Even a lot of the ones that continue to take up for him are saying it’s to give him an extra year not that they think he’ll survive. But even a few of those a relentlessly backing so I just don’t think he’s got much support at all. But he’s pulling the propaganda trick, use the media to paint an unhinged 1% and pretend everyone is fine with everything. He has already started lowering the bar which I have him credit for not doing until this season (better than cherry picked last 4). It’s slowly unraveling.
