That would be wild. He is on contract with Florida (currently on a 6 year $40.5 million deal) through 2031. He has a $16 million buyout (drops to $11 million in mid April) if he leaves for another college program ($3 million if he leaves to go to the NBA). I think Golden will eventually leave Florida, but for the NBA and not Lexington. Not saying it won't happen, I just don't think UK can make it happen.

I wish, but not likely. But he should be the first person we call after Pope is gone. He’s just slimy enough to leave Florida despite winning a title there.

And before anyone says we should hire “slimy” coaches, let’s not forget that we had freaking Pitino here and we know what he’s done. Like I give a crap about the morality of our coach. That’s how we get people like Pope.

I hope people realize that Florida didn’t make it any further than Kentucky did this year. He caught lightning in a bottle with Walter Clayton Jr. Would’ve lost two or three of those tournament games last year had they not had him. Get back with me when he wins anything else.

Any link to those “reports”? Even by the loftiest estimations of how much our program prestige is still worth, a coach passing on UNC in the unconfirmed hope that we might have an opening later seems certifiably insane. I share the suspicions that you’re trolling.

If that happens, cool. I will take it.

If it doesn’t happen, cool. I don’t expect it to.

yeah some do, and it's not really Golden's buyout that would be the issue. It'd be firing Pope and paying his buyout, paying Golden's buyout, paying Stoops buyout, paying Barnhart's made up position, AND paying Golden at least $6.5 million a year (he makes $6.1 million a year currently at Florida plus incentives). That's a LOT of money and people seem to forget someone has to pay for it all. UK has money, sure, but people always suggest spending it when it is someone else's money.

Reports indicate that those close to Golden believe he should consider waiting for a potential opportunity at the University of Kentucky next year rather than pursuing the head coaching position at the University of North Carolina (UNC) this year. This advice stems from the belief that Kentucky may offer a more favorable situation in the future.
North Carolina don’t want him anyway, they want Mr Zona …

Excite everyone? Dont think so. Can’t stand the guy and hope he never steps foot in Lexington outside of the one game a year at Rupp with Florida.

What "reports" are "indicating" this?
