The NFL hadn’t made the rule about off sight practices until the day after that practice was held.

But shouldn’t that be kinda common sense? The facility closed because they didn’t need to practice and potentially spread this through the team. It’s not like practicing elsewhere would stop them from spreading it.

I’m guessing the owners and admin looked at the given info and said here’s how we can get it done given the risks and the rules.

Crazy I know but risk is low so why not?

Maybe but the NFL is a results based business and every day they aren’t practicing is a day their competition is.

You’ve got guys whose contracts will or won’t be renewed by their performance on the field. Their performance on the field is greatly influenced by how much they practice together.

I don’t think anybody should be be surprised those guys did everything possible within the rules to still get together and practice.

The problem is, they are completely putting the entire season at risk. I don’t know about the rule put in place the day after about practicing away from the facility, but as ronpolk said, teams have to use some common sense.

Results based business? Absolutely, and sitting out another 10 days is an unacceptable result, it would be different if the 15 players were the only ones at risk, but they are putting the league at risk of a disrupted season beyond repair. They are going to pay. This isn’t a democracy, it’s the NFL, pleading ignorance and technicalities isn’t going to work.
They had to shut down the team facility..no one can claim they thought it was ok to assemble somewhere else.

As I saw some say last night, they just need to go ahead and create their bubbles, renting out hotels for team and staff for the next 100 days.

I hope you are sitting down. Common sense isn't that common...

I don't see that happening. Those games are sold to advertisers. They need to play them.

They'll just show a different game. Instead of 3 regional games in one time slot, there will only be 2. I don't know how they're going to make up 2 or more games that are postponed. They can't make them play 2 games in a week, the Players Association would block that. And if they cancelled a round of playoffs, they'd really be losing revenue. They should have built more bye weeks into the schedule. Any idiot should have been able to see that games are going to be postponed. Or maybe they just made the decision on the front end that they're OK with a few forfeits.

That would be ******** if it caused them to miss the playoffs. It very well could.
Play stupid games...
they could also lose draft picks, or have them adjusted.

btw, Simmons in on the list. That may have already been pointed out.
Yes, everyone expected missed games and adjustments to the schedule, which we’ve already seen. Just can’t break protocols.

Health problems for a physically fit 25 year old, covid or getting hit by a 250 pound object moving at 20mph? What risks would be better to avoid if the NFL is concerned about player safety?

Ok cool. Instead of following basic-as-hell common sense protocols, we can just cancel all levels of football, forever, and then we won’t have to ever worry about these tedious rescheduling problems. Believe this takes care of the CTE problem too...talk about killing two birds with one stone.
