Lost in all the Riley hoopla is the question of the fate of Tim Miles. I wonder, if we have yet another poor bball season, if Moos will fire him?

I don't see how having a new AD changes anything for Miles. His seat is not so hot that he's a goner no matter what, but it's hot enough that another s--- show meltdown like last year will get him pushed out the door. Pretty much the same boat he was in with Eichorst.

Well at least Marc Boehm should have time to fill Moos in on everything that's going on with the basketball program, since there's likely not going to be a bowl game for Boehm to hustle off to this year, right in the middle of the non-conference schedule.

"So, Marc..."

Will be interesting to see if Boehm survives yet another Athletic Director. He was a Pederson lackey yet has been retained by TO and Eichorst despite the fact that basketball has been awful.

Interesting comment Harry. With the vast experience the new AD has, I'm guessing there will be some staff members shown the door rather quickly. Boehm needs to be one of them.

We all like Miles, but at this point he needs to win more and the new AD did say it's across the board for NU athletics even though it did have a football type flavor to it.

I also can't believe Boehm survived the whole Connie Yori fiasco.

Miles I think will be retained if he can go .500 or better. He has a young team and a very difficult non-conference schedule. Or if he could somehow convince Mike Daum to come here as a graduate transfer after this year - that might be enough to give him one more year as well.

There were things going on with Yori that would have looked very bad for Connie and UNL if they had met the light of day. It's why she quietly took the severance package and left. The Daum point is an interesting one. Had drinks with a guy who was at one of their workouts recently. He brought that very idea of of him doing the grad transfer thing. Pretty sure he graduates this year. I'm not sure he would be the star in the B1G that he is in his league, but he would be a really nice piece.

A lineup of Watson, Allen, Copeland, Daum, and Tshimanga would be pretty damn fun to watch. Add Palmer, Roby, Nana, and McVeigh off the bench. Even Miles should be able to go dancing with that roster.

Our luck, Daum will end up at Creighton or Iowa. Also wouldn't be surprised if he went to a big program like KU. I think he'll want the exposure to improve his chances of being drafted.

I'm not sure what his long term career goals are. HIs family are farmer/ranchers and he has roots out in western South Dakota as well as Nebraska. I would guess some of it might depend on what he wants to do with his life after basketball because I don't see him as an NBA prospect.

He would have a very nice career playing overseas if he doesn't make the NBA. But with his shooting range, I think he'll find a supporting role in the NBA.

I don't think he's quick enough to play in the NBA. Doug McBuckets gets eaten alive when he's on defense and Daum is kind of the same player but not as athletic IMO. We'll see. I wish him the best. He's a great kid.

Perfect timing to go in a new direction, his contract wasn't extended.... unlike someone else
