Neither. I went to the end of the internet watching MAAC bball videos, figured I'd post them since his name is tied to the opening.

If we do hire him, I wish him all the luck. I can only see this board tagging him as "Clueless" Cluess the second he hits a rough spot.

He's a good coach----worked his way up the ladder.

Teams play fast and he gets athletic , good players to go there.

Why not ?

With a minute or so left Iona has held Iowa State to under 90 points. That would be progress for us no?

Home run hire, guys is a proven winner and had good ties to the area. Can;t judge by todays game playing with inferior talent

You win by outscoring your opponent. There are a few ways to do it, you can win 94-88 or you can win 59-53.

In Cluess' years at Iona he has outscored his opponents this many times.....

I don't think there are any home run hires out of the realistic names being mentioned. I'm okay with Cluess and I'm intrigued how his style with a better player might translate at this level. At the very least it's different and might put some pressure on competition not used to that frenetic pace. That being said you have to realize what you're getting with that style, all offense push up the floor and not much focus on defense.

He's been doing well against his conference and making NCAA's and NITs consistently. BUT he also hasn't won any games in either, mind you he's been the lower seed, but a game here or there specifically in the NIT would have been nice to see if that style might translate up a level. So I like him but it's still a question mark. Also others have said he recruits a type of kid that might not fly at RU, so that could be an issue as well but who's to say he couldn't adapt with regards to that.

I was thinking about Dooley and him side by side but I'm starting to think Dooley probably comes out in front a little now and Pikiell/Cluess on the step below for me.

To be fair, Iowa State can put up 90-plus on anyone. But I wouldn't touch Cluess. He's older, his teams don't play defense, and it's Iona. No thanks. I know Iona is light years ahead of Rutgers, but if Rutgers is to ever succeed, it can't go this route.

Which route, older coach or outscoring your opponents in 68% of your games over 6 years ?

Regarding Iona, I assume you know that Hobbs hired Kevin Willard from Iona.

Didn't watch the game but doesn't Iowa State play the same style as Iona with a legit power 5 roster? Hoiberg turned around Iowa State by playing fast, shooting 3s and recruiting a bunch of transfers?
