AKRON, Ohio – Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will go head-to-head in a made-for-TV match during the Thanksgiving weekend, according to ESPN.

Sources told ESPN's Mike Greenberg that the match will be played at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas on either Nov. 23 or 24.

Mickelson told Golf.com last month that the two stars were in negotiations for the winner-take-all match and some reports said the purse could be $10 million.

“It's a ridiculous amount of money. No matter how much money you have, this amount will take both of us out of our comfort zone,” Mickelson said in the story.

Woods and Mickelson played a practice round together on Wednesday at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. The two are expected to be a key part of the U.S. Ryder Cup team room, either as players or vice captains, in late September.

Why would either of them put up their own money? That is ridiculous.

Hardline golf fans will watch
Guys play for money all the time. There were guys at my club that had a standing 10,000 dollar match. One guy was paid 1.2 mill one year. The last check was for over 600,000. When it's your money, there's a little more pressure. I know they won't do it. Just opining.

And those idiots playing for that kind of money at your club are ridiculous fools. Just opining.

The Mountaineers play Oklahoma on the 23rd. At that time of year, f’uck golf.

If they want viewers, publicity and attention, they need to do something similar to what they did with David Duval vs Tiger, head to head in the desert in prime time. That was awesome. I think they did it in early August. It has been a number of years ago.

Well it is their money.
Sure is. But that doesn't make it cool or interesting for all outside observers. And in fact, probably disgusts many Americans that are less fortunate. Not to mention it is technically unlawful. Don't let the IRS find out.

Watch golf on TV?

Is it like an, I do that or (insert horrific scenario) type of thing?

I’m sure it will do huge and that baffles me because there are few things I’d rank below watching golf on tv.

1. He reported it since the check had to be cashed.
2. I'm not sure the condition other people are in should impact their desire to gamble
3. The guy used the money to buy a house, which helped local realtors, surveyors, lawyers etc.

Since I play tournament golf, I enjoy watching them play. Some people like to watch HGTV, I find that as interesting as you do golf.

Who's ***** business is it. They can obviously stand the loss. Personally, I would not bet a dime on golf. When I did bet, I lost ability to maintain my concentration. Amount was never a factor. Win never gave me more satisfaction than just playing the course. Just want to enjoy the game. Have played poker all weekend, and enjoyed the game and people.
