Tough to take shots down the field last night thought we take a few but the 3 safety’s kept Dylan in check.

See if other teams defend us this way down the road..

We finally found away to win a close game.

If other teams want to copy a team that lost to us, then I say go ahead

I mean, this is basically how most of the lame Big Ten teams play defense. It is all about keeping things in front of you and hoping the other team ***** up so that your team can snag that magical 7 or maybe 8 win season.

Iowa and Minnesota probably blitz a combined 9 times all year.

I am not sure if NW has ever blitzed.

If that's what teams want to give us we just have to take it and be WAY more efficient at sustaining and finishing drives. It felt like Dylan maybe wasn't content with just taking the short completion at times. On the 4th & 2 we didn't complete it seemed like he looked off an open Key for the conversion because he wanted more. All in all he still had a nice game, we just need to be consistent at moving the chains. Once we do that it's inevitable that it will open up the deep shots.

I think, this is just my guess from my horrible job of coaching FB for year, but a lot of times QB's are told to not throw that slant if the FS/SS is already coming down hill.

MOST of the time the FS especially is taking read steps that are away from the LOS, so that might have thrown him off a bit.

I have no idea.

I love Raiola's leadership, decision making, commitment and passion. However, I think his arm talent is middle of the road. And can someone please work on his mechanics particularly when throwing a deep ball when he wants to put some air under the ball?

I'll buy that. I have no problem admitting the failed conversion was way better than a pick 6 in that spot.

His arm talent was supposed to be the reason he was a 5 star. His decision making is bad. His ceiling is looking like Spencer Petras at this point.

It they were 3 high safeties all game, then we should have ran the ball for 350 yards last night.

Instead, we ran the ball 35 times for 113 yards and threw the rock 42 times with a single completion over 20 yards.

It was vanilla at best. Hopefully we are just putting film out there for Michigan and Connor Stallions to scout.

Early, it doesn't look like this team has enough offensive firepower to hang with opponents that can score a lot of points.

If either DR or EJ goes down, NU will be in real trouble offensively. Unless TJ is the real deal.

The short passes were like 5 yard runs so I am cool with it. Looking at time of possession, 39:30 UNL vs 20:30 Cincy, if you didn't see the game and just this stat, you would think that Nebraska would win 35-14.

Agree. I love the TOP stat.

We should have won by a couple of TDs. Except we didn't.

Reality is they ran for 202 yards to our 113. Why? Their QB ran for 96 yards and 2 TDs.

Our QB containment in the rush game was costly. We'll face better and more athletic QBs with better personnel around them. We have to shore up our rush containment and not let athletic QBs loose. Hard to do, but we have to get ridiculously better to win more games.

Yea, we dominated statistically and should have won comfortably. The 3 high and inability to run consistently is worrying.

Raiola made some nfl throws yesterday, like some from the far hash to the sideline. He's not the reason the game was close.

Have to be thrilled about no fumbles or interceptions. I’ll take this over the boom or bust play of recent QBs we’ve had.

He’s the reason we were in position to win the game. No fumbles or interceptions. Conservative play. Sure don’t like to see some fans complaining about what all we didn’t do in the game….we won that’s what matters. We’ve become a typical big ten program…conservative play both sides of the ball, wait for other team to make mistake and take advantage of it.

That’s the concern, right? We ran so many more plays, and nearly doubled them in TOP, yet only scored one touchdown in each half. (Gotta wonder what would’ve happened with LAST year’s special teams; Eck may already have earned his salary last night.) Gotta be absolutely mistake free to sustain those long drives.

He was 33/42 and he usually took the underneath throws, but on that play not sure why he didn't go to Key. JMO but 4th & 2 at midfield with a ten point lead I'm going to let my Aussie punter pin them again.
