Thomasville shouldn’t have any problems with Albemarle as they are very young with only two seniors. The next couple of years might be a different story but this year Thomasville by four touchdowns.

I like the Bulldogs in this one. :)

I'm afraid it won't be close because AHS has fallen on hard times due to factors that are way outside the control of the players and coaches. But I'll be pulling hard for them anyway.

Opening night is always special. Brings back lots of memories. Here's to a good, fun game and no injuries.

So is AHS showing signs of life or is Tville down a bit this season? Or both? Game was a blowout last year (and AHS got a ton of penalties then too).

Imo AHS is alittle bigger and older. Last year at Thomasville I’m not sure how many turnovers we had but it was a bunch. Last night we had no int or fumbles until the fourth quarter. Remember last year at tville it was actually a pretty good game until the flurry of interceptions and fumbles in the third quarter and that’s when tville went crazy. I think at half it was 14-0 and at the end of third was running clock maybe. AHS was talented last year but made of all freshmen and sophomores. So they are still young with a good amount of freshmen and sophomores again BUT that core are a year older and stronger.

The defense overall is much better the d line is much better offense controls better even though we still need to get better on that side.

like it was stated before there were a bunch of unforced penalties last night on both sides both teams have to get better at. I honestly didn’t think tville was down much from last year but the turnovers like last year didn’t give them that extra 40 pts lol

To be clear, I wasn’t at last night’s game. But the difference between last year and this year offensively is huge. Over 90% of our offense last year went through two excellent athletes. Carolina has graduated (East-West game offensive MVP). And CJ is out, at least for the regular season. CJ was a threat to go to the house on every play. Finding guys to fill those holes is a big challenge. We won’t be just outscoring teams this year. We’ll have to shut them down.
I’m always hopeful, but the chance of repeating last year’s success Isn’t great.

Thomasville’s offensive line last night was TERRIBLE. Albemarle had some decent size on the d line but Thomasville couldn’t hold a block for longer than a second it felt like. We were consistently getting blown up in the backfield and when a passing play was attempted our qb was running for his life. I did see an injured bulldog on the sideline wearing a offensive lineman number so maybe that will help some when he comes back but it’s gonna take a little more than one person to fix what I saw. There is some hope on the defensive side of the ball as after halftime the red dogs d line realy stepped up and made some big plays but the biggest concern is the offensive line. Also #7 for the red dogs can flat out run the ball, all he needs is a little better blocking and I can see him becoming the main back this year.

Wasn't at the game but our games against Albemarle are usually close and low scoring defensive battles. Last year and and 2017 were the few acceptations of a blowout.

The series between the two Dogs has been a good one, but has run in spurts.

During the ‘40’s and ‘50’s, Albemarle dominated. The Blue Dogs were 9-2. Then George Cushwa arrived, followed by Allen Brown. From ‘63 through the end of the 20th century, Thomasville won 19 in a row, with Albemarle never scoring more than 10 points. Albemarle’s longest streak was five, with three of those wins by less than seven points.

In this century, the record is Thomasville 12, Albemarle 8.

Overall record Thomasville 34 Albemarle 18. Cumulative point total Thomasville 1098 (21.1/game) Albemarle 642 (12.3/game).

Outside of the penalties on both sides I thought it was a good hard hitting game. Both defenses were playing and hitting, outside of the first drive for tville. 😂

Albemarle is still young with only two seniors. Hopefully they can cut down on the penalties and turnovers. We’ll see how they do at West Stanly who had a running clock against South Stanly before halftime.

I agree. Penalties were big against tville. Looking forward to see them play west Friday.

West Stanly doesn’t make many mistakes so it will be a long night for albemarle. WS 32 - 6 alb.

This is a different year. West is not as good as tville nor as big and strong. Remember this team was majority freshmen last year there is no denying the amount of talent on that sideline. They are deeper stronger and a year older and that makes a huge difference. Now will they put everything by together Friday I’m not sure but I can tell you this if they continue to stay away from the needless turnovers (I.e. fumbles and interceptions) I don’t see a blow out. Remember on a good tville team after the first drive it was deadlocked into the 4th quarter.
