This team only goes as far EJ can take them

EJ needs to carry this team for the next 3 games. Not sure what people are seeing in Lateef but he played really really bad vs USC. And anyone asking for Haarberg needs to go look at the offense stats with him at qb. We need EJ to get 35+ touches a game and win some ugly games. Doubtful we're favored in any of the remaining games and if we can win 1 more it will be great result.

If we are that one dimensional then we’ve got way more problems than a true rookie QB being thrown in during a lurch.

And no one is going to “carry” that one-dimensional of an offense.

Here's the thing, we win the game had Dylan not gone down period. Go watch that play as they intentionally hurt Dylan as he had that defense off balance all game until he went down. When TJ came in USC didn't have to do anything except load the box and blitz, they didn't even have any DBs over the top as they knew they didn't have to worry about him and that he was a QB with little to no experience.

Defensively, they couldn't move the ball especially in the 2nd half when we did adjust and took their Counter Tray from them as they got quite a few of those in the 1st half and was Maiava that added another 61 to it and was desperation on their part. There were 6 of their plays that accounted for 107 yards in the second half, and 49 of them they had to rely a trick play a flea flicker as our ELITE secondary was destroying the number 1 Passing O in the nation and was pretty bad as that was the only way they could move the ball. Take away those 6 plays and they finish the game with only 231 yards total offense. Look at it this way, the secondary once again didn't allow a TD through the air and this time it was against at the time, the most explosive passing attack in P4.

I called it before the game that we would shut down Lemon and their other receivers. Take away that 49 yard play and they don't even have 100 yards through the air as they finished with only 135 yards passing. Ceyair completely shut down Lemon. I think it's pretty comical how many on these boards were claiming our secondary wasn't elite as well as national talking heads, welp they all just got their words shoved right down their throats. Butler may be DC, but has his hands all over this secondary as it's his Buffalo Secondary and Addison is just maintaining it. The Butler effect.

I think TJ looked horribly unprepared to play last week (I put that on him and not the coaches) but I expect him to look much better this week and allow the offense to not be so one dimensional. That said, unless we are down big, I'd be surprised if we threw the ball more than 20-25 times.

He’s going to have to throw it some no doubt. We can’t just hand it to EJ without some type of a chunk play pass threat. Hopefully Dana doesn’t go all out bubble screen all the time. Make their backers have to cover.

If the next 3 teams don't scheme to make anyone but EJ beat them when we have the ball, their DC's need to be shown the door
So many people saying TJ is a running QB, looks like what they mean is he is decent at scrambling for some yards. The one QB draw they ran lost 2 yards. You are right all they need to do is focus on EJ until someone else makes them pay.

I disagree and I agree and in a funny way this is probably the best case scenario for Lateef to get his first starts. Nebraska has qualified for a bowl game, which in years past has been a frickin challenge, so you don't have to worry about getting that sixth win. On the flip side they are out of the college football playoff race, so that pressure to win isn't on the kids head. He gets his first start in the Rose Bowl, about an hour away from where he went to high school. Raiola won't be on the side for this first game, which I think will actually help. It gives Lateef the chance to have it be his team at least for 1 game.

If I am Rhule and Dana I don't know if I really change too much with how you approach these next 3. A couple things I would do is roll the pocket at little more with Lateef. Get him on the edge more to help the line with pass pro and cut the field in half to make his reads a little easier. Also do a little more play action from under center. The D will key on Johnson, so if you can fake and outside stretch run, roll away from that fake and give him a deep option and a check down you will soften up the defense. I have heard a lot about Key's speed so you may have a few more chances to get a big chunk play through the air.

I am personally excited to see what this kid has. They say he has a live arm and throws a pretty nice deep ball too. While he isn't a true dual threat, he will give you much more escapability in the pocket and probably a little more willingness to tuck it a run if the first or second read isn't and option. I hope he goes out to LA and plays well.

Lol! Iowa fan for sure.

Troll? Nope.
Or an incredibly stupid human laughing at 100% fact and truth. You made yourself a fool laughing at my post as that was 100% accurate. I think I'll just go get the proof of what I was saying and shove it down your throat! :ROFLMAO:

Ok well post your proof that they "intentionally hurt" your quarterback.

Have you ever played football?
Serious question.
