Probably need another win or two, but beating the fake ID of NCAA basketball really helped to shore up some metrics. How I felt last night and today about the season now.

If this version of Iowa, particularly on the offensive side, is who we're gonna be for the rest of the season, we will be a solid 9 seed going into the tournament.
That's assuming we don't f***ing fall on our faces at Penn State because reasons, and maaaaybe snag one more win against a Wisconsin or Ohio State, etc.
I think if we can stretch that into 3 more wins to finish the regular season and BTT that gets us to a 7 seed. 23-10 or better gets us back to a 6 seed, but that will involve beating some ranked teams and/or wins in the BTT.
P.S. we have 5 regular season games remaining (plus at least 1 CT game, although it'd be incredibly f***ing disappointing if we didn't at least get to a second game)

I think some must not realize how pathetically terrible the bubble is this year.
The bubble suggests Iowa can lose out and likely still make it. But they don’t wanna lose to both OSU and PSU and test that possibility.
Will they have enough left in the tank to take down Wisky? One game at a time. 
Could they lay an egg going forward? Nothing will be easy. Still need more offensive production and toughness a la the Nebby game. I believe they're in. I'll say 8 seed optimistically.

Everything from here on out is for seeding i.e. not getting screwed with impossible paths and bad matchups.

Yeah but I mean it for this team specifically. I have been of the opinion we have been in since we beat Indiana. We just need to get to a 7 seed or better.
The Maryland game has been undone by the Nebraska win. Just need one more Q1 and the Minnesota game is undone.
Nebraska has PSU,MD and Iowa at home, and the LA teams out west

It's weird how we are playing like Wisky under Bo Ryan and they are playing like Iowa under Fran
Iowa moved up all of 1 spot in the NET after beating Nebraska.. Was hoping for a little more of a bump. Still, Iowa is at 26, and with a difficult remaining schedule, I can't envision them dropping too far with losses. So I think Iowa is in near-lock status. MUST beat Penn State, though. Don't want to add any more bad losses.
Otherwise, pretty much any win from here on out will be a resume builder. They can start by beating Wisconsin this weekend.

Yeah it kind of looks that way. I'm hoping they can get a couple more big wins and move up to 6-7 at least. That said, after missing out the last couple years, I'll take whatever seed we can get if it means being back in the dance this year.

Solid "floor" this year is getting in the tournament and a good showing in game 1. Obviously we all want more, but that's a start.
HOPEFULLY we get cooking on offense and get a few more quality wins and get off that 8/9 line.
Only legit scene stealers would come from MAC if Miami loses or one of the WCc non tourney teams steal a bid which never happens.
Teams at top of all the major conferences are just too good to have a non-tourney caliber team make it. Even winning a couple games in the conference tourneys hasn’t proven that helpful for the bubble teams. Committee has the top at large teams ranked by Sat midday.

I see them losing another 2. The blueprint is out there for them. Guard them rough and physical. I can see UCLA taking it to them out west, especially.
As for us, I like the Wisconsin matchup, and maybe even moreso than Nebraska. I think we win.
I think Wiskys backcourt will be a huge problem. Visions of endless drives to the basket just like Maryland.
I wanted to see some Jirak in this game on offense. I think there was advantage for a player like him in the paint. Probably gives too much on defense coverage wise, with Nebby forwards able to play around the arc. Still was curious.
If Iowa gives the same effort defensively as they did against Nebraska, they'll make it tough on Wisconsin. Hell if Iowa gives that same effort at Maryland, they probably win by 20
Iowa can't seem to get off the 8 line. They are almost universally an 8 on bracket matrix with a few 7's and a few 9's sprinkled in.
Would rather Hawks 'fell' to a 10-seed than be stuck in an 8/9 game.
But honestly, not that huge of a drop off in terms of quality of opponent between the 1 & 2 lines this season.

Absolutely, right. Beating Wisconsin. Penn St, and Ohio State can get us off the 8-9 seeds. Losing the last two games is almost a given.
Ben talked about that in the Hawk Talk pod. He said Gard used Bo's system for a couple of years and then decided to implement his own style of offense, thus the speed up.

It’s a cool story, but they have something like the 332nd toughest schedule. Having said that I would like to see them be undefeated heading into the tourney.
They'll play hero ball their first game for sure due to disrespect. They may win or lose, but I don't want to be the team against them in the R64.
