This absolutely sucks. First time, since what, 1943 a Husker game was cancelled? And that was because of freaking World War II.

I mean, think about that. All that build up and anticipation. For this.

Now the team has to open up against CU. We’ll find out real quick now what kinda team we have.

I’m moping around. There are only 12 regular season Nebraska football games planned a year- and one of them was just canceled. It’s no ones fault, but I am beyond disappointed.

It’s been 75 years since a Nebraska football game has been cancelled - and the last one was due to a freakin’ world war! Before that it was 120 years ago! Cancelling a Nebraska football game is about as unprecedented as you can get. Add in the excitement surrounding Scott Frost’s first game and you end up with one of the great buzz-kills of all time.

We play enough games...we will be one game fresher for games that actually matter...to me this points to absurdity of paying a team 1 million to play us when the game isn't important enough to make up. We should be playing 2 non-conference games against power 5 teams only. And 10 conference games. Hopefully this sort of crap exposes why these spring training games need to stop. It is obviously greed to just get another game on the schedule, but people sacrifice to see these games. I can guarantee if this was Iowa, we had a chance to go to big 10 championship with a win, they would have moved it up.

So has anyone looked at Akron schedule. Can it be rescheduled? Really there is bowl implications here especially if you are fighting for 6 wins. Granted most of us want more but this non game could be huge. Plus Vegas just might have gotten richer on the over under.

Iowa State is in the same boat as our game was cancelled tonight. In his press conference afterwards, ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard said the Akron AD called him and said they could not find accommodations in Lincoln tonight and Pollard suspected the same issue would be true in Ames for South Dakota State. And even if they could, it is supposed to rain all day tomorrow in Ames so the game could not likely be played tomorrow either. Pollard said South Dakota State would be paid in full and I suspect Akron will be paid in full by Nebraska as well.

This was a disaster, no other way to spin it. We needed this warm up game. We need the time to iron out the kinks. This is one of those wins that counts towards bowl eligibility. I am gutted.

A lot of small universities play these big boys for the payout, as it usually is their ability to pay for travel in other sports. I wouldn’t day it’s greed. If Akron doesn’t get their money. Women’s tennis might not be able to go on the road.

Yeah, well it sucks. So, we move on to next week, and worry about whether it will affect our bowl eligibility if and when the situation presents itself. I'm not going to mope around about something that neither we nor anybody else has any control over.
Quit acting all high and mighty.

I'd suggest you follow your own advice. If what I said there offends you, you're way too easily offended.
im not offended, you just come off as an arrogant dick looking for an opportunity to brag about yourself. People are upset the game was cancelled, its not surprising nor wrong.
if youre so much better than everyone at being over it, then prove it by getting off the forum.

I'm not bragging about anything.I thought what I wrote there was pretty innocuous, but it shouldn't surprise me that you took offense at it, because you seem to go out of your way to disagree with or take offense at most of what I say.

Callahan tweeted something about suspecting not being able to find them accommodations for tonight.

They should have put out an announcement at the Stadium so fans could have volunteered to put up the Akron players for the night. I bet we could have covered their entire team and staff with surprisingly fair accommodations on average.

Dec 1 is only way they can play.. Dec 1 in Nebraska is not ideal

Our weather is way to unpredictable to know what December 1st will be like. That day could be 70 degrees for all we know..

So theres the answer. Play ISU in Lincoln in December. Big 8 throwback game. Split the take.

I loved the thread title :p Of all the things going through my mind yesterday, what happened was not one of the possibilities. Just imagine, nightmare scenario, every game this year for NU gets called due to weather....

NU and Akron probably wouldn't want the liability if something unforseen happened
