Because Jan 6 was a set up to both remove any chance of Trump challenging the stolen election and destroy MAGA once and for all.

It was planned and designed to arrest the protesters, lock them up as political dissidents, and destroy the rest of the MAGA movement thus eliminating any chance of Trump ever making a political comeback.
