A poster in another thread mentioned that without Mag we should scrap the press because we dont have the depth anymore and it requires a lot of energy from the players. I dont remember the press creating a lot of turnovers against Neb, plus if the break it they could get wide open looks. Because of the depth issue it may also be tiring our players out. After thinking about it I also think we should scrap the press.

Issue is that we try to plug-in someone for Maag instead of rethinking the whole process. Caleb is as good as a defender can be, but he should not be at the point of the press like Maag was. Is anticipations two grade and should be in the second level to pick off balls. I have said that although he does not have the link, Simpson would be good with his athleticism at the top of the press and I also think Reber would be good they’re assuming that Cliff is also in and we’re playing him at the four. It’s absolutely worth a shot, as well as being more judicious with the use of the press.

LOL, it's got nothing to do with the press. It's not like they use it the whole game.

These guys have to play much harder on defense the whole game to make up for what they lost when Mag went down. That is impacting some of them.

You also have to replace bench minutes that were primarily Hyatt's with guys (Dean, Miller, Palmquist) that were not even role players for much of the season. The only bright spot is that Simpson is actually starting to play a bit better on offense.

Mag was the unsung hero and a terrific glue guy. They can't replicate what he brought to the starting lineup. These guys just need to all look at each other and say enough is enough, we need to get our crap together and take care of business.

With at best mid major bench players... Seriously?

Bumping this as putting Caleb at the mag top of press has not worked. Someone else there would produce better results with caleb back at his usual spot.

We should scrap the press, digital and social media....and the basketball defense where our players get torched also.
