The Only Hold Up Is the Senate

Call your senators and explain how if they’re “pro-business” then voting no tomorrow will absolutely ruin the state even worse. Remember when people said Tate was a “friend of MSU”, that’s been proven completely false at this point.

My understanding is that the votes are there, RIGHT NOW, but it’s extremely tenuous. Let’s hope for no last minute flips.

I'm not sure what the hold up for some of these politicians is. You had a historic meeting where all schools coaches, AD's and presidents advocated for change. The general consensus (judging by social media and educated people I've spoken with) is that it's time for them to change it and there is still a potential stalemate. It just doesn't make any sense.

It’s incredible that some politicians at this stage are more intimidated by the rednecks here than the small and large business community. If this doesn’t happen we have to make the opposition pay dearly.

If that vote doesn't go through it ruins the argument for less federal power. You want to make US Congress look good, let a state legislative body screw up something so simple.

I sent a blast email to every senator today. I would encourage others to do the same.

For those of us out of state, where should we be looking for updates. I come here because y'all are top notch on current events. But, I am curious what is the current situation.

The votes will be there. We've got some stupid, bigoted legislators, but none of them are stupid enough to want the blame for the fallout if this doesn't go through. Well, maybe a couple of them are.

Edit: Even Tate's not willing to take that blame. He's already said he's signing the bill.

These guys that represent some small rural county in MS have nothing to gain from the business community in their district. It’s sad but true. A lot of districts in MS have no growth potential and the reps know what they need to get elected.

Anyone know what Democratic Senator Hob Bryan from Amory is about? I see that he is "undecided". What does it take to take a stand?

The hold up, IMO, is the Sons of Confederate Vets....

i went back through some timelines on Chris McDaniel on twitter....searched his name....apparently he and the chick from Natchez (who claims she can't be swayed) have been bumping tacos since 2013....both are also backed by the SCV....which tells me it is all about.....MONEY....SCV has to be bankrolling those elections....just go to twitter and search his name....

Are you claiming that McDaniel and Melanie Sojourner have been ........ ???

The SCV thing makes sense but I was just making sure that I’m picking up what you’re putting down.

I'm dyed in the wool GOP. My last statewide vote for a Democrat was cast for John C. Stennis. That being said I will never EVER vote for anyone who votes to keep the current flag. I will never vote for anyone that can be linked in ANY way with voting to keep it. Nor will I do any business with anyone even remotely linked with trying to keep it. I will make it known to companies WHY I won't deal with them exactly what their employees did to make me not deal with them. It's time. I voted to change it last time, I never dreamed we would still be dealing with that traitors banner this far in the future.
