I have a good feeling about this one. They beat us by 9 at our place but Sanders, Williams and Johnson went a combined 0 fer 11 on 3pt shooting. NW also fouled us 23 times and blocked 15 of our shots.

I suspect all of those stats to be corrected somewhat. If we make 33% from three and 67% from the line, we'll win.

I give RU a punchers chance in this one------NW is limited offensively without Lindsey and like Wisconsin their games are in the 60's.

A good shooting night and a bad one from NW and you have the ingredients for an upset.

Coach Pike gets the boys ready to work. Don't fall in love with the 3s or 1-on-1s and we will outlast them.

I am down on Wisconsin and Northwestern...especially with no Lindsey. I am also down on our ability to seal the deal.

Northwestern 66
Rutgers 63

Pull a few reasons for the loss out of the bag of usual suspects.....TOs, FTs, poor 8 minute stretch from end of 1H and begin 2H, missed 3s...........or for some bad call from zebras. Will this be the day the turtle (McIntosh) breaks out of his shooting slump.

We haven't shot nearly 67% in a game in such a long time so no way we win
Northwestern 68
Rutgers 62
Rutgers 8-15 from the line with missing the front end of 3 one and ones!!

You guys definitely have a puncher's chance in this one. It's not only that we're missing Lindsey, but also our leading freshman from last year and our best freshman recruit (both have been out all year). Add that to a dispute between the staff and a former player that has left another scholarship open, and we're basically down four scholarship players unless Lindsey plays. Doesn't do much for depth. B-Mac played all 40 minutes against Wisconsin a couple of games ago.

need to attack the basket and get foul calls. Can't have another game like Purdue where we settled for way to many outside shots.

We definitely have a chance in this one. Northwestern is so close to getting their first NCAA bid in god knows how long that this game could put them at 20 wins I believe. With that said, this game will come down to FT shooting (surprise), how well we rebound and can we reduce our TO's especially at critical times. I don't know if we'll pull this one off, but I like our chances.

Obviously hope I'm wrong. Not only for the benefit of RU, but so Rovell and Wilbon have to eat crow.

Defend, box out and rebound....

Key is whether NW takes a breather here and gets in trouble early. Thiam has been playing more minutes, so if I am NW, Vic Law is the player to have a big game on both ends of the court.

Nigel Johnson's game at Purdue allowed RU to avoid a complete bloodbath the other night....if he comes off the bench with double digits again, RU is right there at the 4 minute mark.

Corey will need to slow down McIntosh to win (less than 15 shot attempts)....the matchup is very fair IF, we can get out on their big men shooting 3's.

A win here could trigger a decent finish to the RU season with 3 home games and a reasonable matchup in the first game of the B1G tournament. Going to take a flier here and call it...if Illinois can squeeze a win here in Evanston, can't see why RU shouldn't have a chance here either.

RU 61, NW 55....

We need to keep McIntosh reasonably under control. We did a very good job guarding him in our first game. We need to play good defense against him again. It would be nice to get a win in Chicago. It would be a big lift for our guys.

Have to score at least 70 to get a win and that's not a guarantee. Can't count on our shooting except to be bad. Only constant except for effort.

But I'm not sure who wins. Probably Northwestern.

I'm also terrible at predictions and haven't watched Rutgers win a conference game live since last March.

If Northwestern is on their game, this game will not be close. Like most games for RU to be in it, the other team needs to be subpar, the good news is besides the Wisky game, Northwestern has struggled without Lindsey who scored 15ppg and is a key cog in a team that plays like a TEAM, meaning one guy missing really screws things up. RU must play defense, if they do not, they will be in trouble. RU must hit above their normal shooting percentage. The first game, Nwstern did not play well in the first half and then got down to business and pulled away from RU in the 2nd half and there wasnt much optimism that RU could win that game in the last 8 minutes

Now this is good. A fresh prediction, a close game scorewise and very noncommittal about who will win. But it could be us. I like the angle and who really knows for sure.

if 4 starters shoot better than 20% like @ Purdue
Williams does better than 1-7
and Nigel has TWO good games in a row
then
we do have a chance
