Haarberg started 8 games for us last year, but really only played 7 since he went out so early against Maryland.
DR has started 8 games for us this year.

here's how they and the offenses compare:

HH - 49% completions, 1,444 total yards, 11 total TDs, 6 INTs (7 games)
DR - 66.1% completions, 1,686 total yards, 9 total TDs, 7 INTs (8 games)

the offense is averaging 24ppg compared to 22ppg last year during HH's starts
the offense is averaging 358ypg compared to 317ypg last year during HH's starts

pretty similar numbers. by far the biggest improvement is in fumbles lost, but that really hasn't translated to more points.

W/L record is the same.

I was pretty surprised to see how similar our production has been this year compared to last year's ragtag bunch.

One thing that has remained constant - the OC.

Just like i said before. If Satt continues to be our OC, there has to be a group of people helping him every week. Otherwise, we will continue to be **** on offense. Not bad for learning on the job for 1.4 million. What a joke.

Satt isn’t learning on the job, this is who he is. He’s been an OC at multiple stops and has even been a HC at Tennessee Tech.

Haarberg played in 10 games total. He had a TD in the Colorado game and had an INT in the Maryland game, so that drops his TD/ INT to 11/6 in games that he played significant minutes in.

I would have liked to have seen HH more in this stretch where Raiola has been struggling a bit. I think HH has improved a lot in the passing game just over the off-season. I also hate that putting HH in the game so obviously signals a run play. For Christ's sake, he was a starter last year, there's no reason he can't get a passing play.

And if we are going to run him so much, run option, to set up that option pass.

I haven't looked up the stats but I believe we had far more big play TDs, 40+ yards, last year than this year and its simply because no one was scared of us throwing the ball last year and we could hit Lloyd or Coleman burning a DB via play action or an option pass.

Now that I'm thinking about it... how many play action passes have we even had since Big 10 play started? (need a running game to try play action)

you are correct

we ranked 9th in the country in 40+ yard runs last year and 2nd in the B1G in 50+ yard plays last year

Raiola has a higher completion percentage but other than that, the rest of the stats are similar.

Last year, I felt the offense had overachieved whenever it scored. This year, I feel like we are underachieving offensively.

Results are the same, only the expectations have changed.

Top Kong loves to beat a dead horse over and over again..
In no way was he doing that. He didn't beat any dead horse or call attention to himself. He brought up interesting comparison stats. You don't like his takes so posted like a douche.
On a football discussion board he posted football stats to discuss.....How you found issue with that is a you problem.

Discussing football on a football message board? Gee, what a concept. You're right, many do seem to take offense to any real football discussion.

I think Rhule will fire Satt in the offseason if the offense doesn’t drastically improve in this back stretch of the season, as he should. Taking better care of the football should be resulting in more points.

I would add that after upgrading the QB position significantly, the bolded is inexplicable.

Last year, I felt like the offensive coaches should get a pass given the brain-dead turnovers and QB passing limitations. This year, I feel like somebody needs to go or a few somebodies.

Of course if we finish 10-3 and the offense is more potent, I will change my mind.

But what about the terminology?

As far as I'm concerned, all of our issues in the pass game are a direct result of our refusal/inability to put an average running game on the field. Raiola would eat defenses alive if they didn't KNOW we have zero commitment to run.

We’re not running the same kind of offense with DR in it to what we were running with HH, JS and Purdy.

You think our record would be 5-3 right now if Raiola wasn’t here..
It’s obvious our turnover ratio is night and day difference from 2023 when the majority of our offense was more run oriented…

IF Haarberg remained healthy (big if) I think there’s a fair chance the record would be the same IF we used more QB runs on the offense. A run threat at QB makes a huge difference to your entire offense. We saw that when Raiola took off last week. Raiola putting that run on film should help our offense.

Your boy Purdy had 3 of those 7 plays.
yep. Sims had a 50+ yard play against CU.

HH accounted for at least 3, as well, including two 70+ yard touchdowns.

that 7 number is low, because Josh Fleeks (remember him?) also had a 50+ yard run. we had 2 50+ yard plays against Michigan alone.
