After the interception there was a 7 yard Emmet run, an incomplete pass, and a 5 yard run for a first down to the USC 22. On first down the ball was snapped at 12:17 for a pass play. After play action Emmet picked up a DE that was making it past Prichett. The left side was where Emmet faked to and was his area of responsibility, so he was out of the right side of the play whether he helped Prichett or not. Echternach pulled from left to right and properly blocked the left end left unblocked since our right tackle and guard properly blocked down. At that point everything was cool at 12:14. Right then a SC linebacker started a delayed blitz. Lindemeyer had also pulled from left to right and having no one to block elected to tie up with Echternach and his man. The linebacker blew by them and at 12:13 Dylan saw him coming. Dylan tried to step up, but the pocket was collapsed by a SC lineman who bullrushed Corcoran five yards behind the LOS. Dylan was then sandwiched between the guy who beat Corcoran and the guy who Emmet and Prichett had taken to the ground, but then got up and back in the play.

So where to place blame? My first blame goes to the OC. You just ran for 7 and 3 yards and the SC D was looking a little gassed. Why not run on 1st down? I just don't get it. Second, in my opinion the blitzing LB was Lindemeyer's responsibility. Third I lay on the OC for never calling passes over the middle so their LBs have nothing better to do than blitz. Fourth I lay on the receivers for not being able to get open. Five is Raiola could have thrown out of bounds when he saw the blitzer, he often holds the ball two long on busted plays. And six, we need to get settled at right tackle. So that play was a combination of a lot of bad decisions and capabilities and turned out to be tragic.

I'm largely with you but settling on a right tackle now simple. It's Corc or Dudly Jablowski. I feel for Corc. He came here as a guard and got pressed into playing out of position for most of his career, all while dealing with one knee injury after another.

They should have run the ball
Taken 3 points and been up 17-6
Which is also why Dylan should’ve just eaten it and moved on to second down. He’s developed a mindset that he can make a lot out of nothing, and at times he has, but the majority of the time his efforts to get more have hurt the team and his psyche. It will be critical for him to work on this in the offseason. More of a Tom Brady approach to the position.
