If it weren’t Rutgers, it would be hard to believe a program could come close to hiring national champion coaches twice, and end up empty handed.

Yes the program is in ok shape now.

But to have turned away a proven college coach oozing big time potential and with the uniquely good fit being basketball royal family in your state was a mistake we will have to live down for a long time.

Counting on Pike to eventually make it as close to water under the bridge as possible,

UConn has won 4 titles in the last 20 years with 3 different coaches. Not sure why some are yelling at the sky because a blue blood program won again. Hurley at RU may never have done what Pike has already done here. They were two entirely different jobs.

Lol....You've likely been waiting to post this all Tourney just to gaslight the board. Are you really this insecure? There's no guarantee of the same results here vs. Uconn especially given our status in 2016 and UConn history in Basketball vs. Ours. 4 Natty's before Hurley and 20 NCAA appearances in the 30 years that RU had none.

If only I bought stock in Amazon or Microsoft when they IPO’ed I’d be a billionaire. If only I had gone to that Bitcoin show in 2013 instead of getting into a fight with my girlfriend on the subway ride and leaving her and gone to the bar. If only Schiano and Savage had stayed. If only the Mets never traded Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi. If only the Red Sox not traded Babe Ruth.

Who gives a **** (notice no question mark). We have a good program today, a great coach who already brought us some great moments, and the best recruits that ever farted in our direction have already committed with the possibility of more. I’m happy with the trajectory. Not going to cry about missed great investments the same way I don’t celebrate the stupid ones I also didn’t make but had considered.

This is not the first time it’s come up and many people trashed hurley along the way what better time to be a topic of conversation.

If I was SHU I would feel even worse…. At least Hurley considered to be our head coach a few times. The guy coaches in the same league too and seems like he would never coach there.

Providence might even feel worse, but their coach (old one) hasn’t won at Georgetown yet, but dumped them for cash.

** So with this win for Hurley is that two ex Rutgers assistant coaches with National Championships? Was there more than two?

Give them credit -- they won the big one but Hurley and U conn are still unlikable to many. I "love" RU and Pike so no regrets and am from NJ not Connecticut .

Can you please go root for UConn or any other team already and get off these boards…

You wait to pounce on anything to throw negativity at Rutgers.

I guess the troll power of this ******** wasn’t high enough in the natty game thread so you needed to make your own thread.

We didn't miss out on Hurley, he turned us down twice--from what I've gathered. Jay Wright is a different story.

Jay Wright is not a different story. I had a lengthy conversation with his wife on this topic and he always wanted to go to Villanova. At that time it was a no brainer for him to choose Nova. If you were a chef and had job offers from Applebees and a Michelin starred restaurant what would you take?

Was Bob Senior ever considered?
My memory is fuzzy on the details, but at one point there was a report that Bob Sr. was willing to take the RU job on a temporary basis after Fred Hill Jr was fired. Obviously, it never materialized.
