Dan and Hev lost a 3 star o-line to ucf. Best part is the kid comes out and says they are spamming his phone mad about it. Some things never change.
Shrader wasn't even looking at MSU until Slophead got here. Keytaon Thompson was going to be the QB.I’m calling it that 2018 would’ve been 10-2 at worst with a sugar bowl bid. And IF we’re to assume that Mullen would’ve gotten him, expectations would be sky high for year 3 of Shrader
I’d give anything for Dan to still be our coach and our biggest frustration as fans is o line recruiting.

I'm all for looking fondly on the Mullen years, but let's be real here, he checked out after 2015 and had gotten real lazy in recruiting, and put together a big class of JUCOs, which was what led to us being good in 2017 and 2018. We were about to fall real hard after that. For all the things Slophead did wrong, he did solidify the talent gaps that left after 2018.
I was going to say as long as Danny stays in the top 10-15 he would be alright, but then I went and looked at his recruiting. Currently sitting at 28th, after a 4-year run at 14, 9, 9, 12. Shorts is headed the wrong direction, and makes you wonder if he's missed his peak. I mean he should be recruiting best right now.
Maybe he gets it done, long way to NSD but he certainly could make it easier on himself if he wasn't so bad at recruiting. It almost seems like State was a better situation for him, because he was recruiting kids that had a chip on their shoulder, like he does. He needs to take Saban to lunch and ask him what he does, because like Danny, Saban is a raging ******* but still is able to recruit well.
This 'concern' is badly overinflated, I believe. Notwithstanding a coaching change, which of course throws development out the window.Dan's forte here was player development, which of course takes time. With the advent of NIL you have to wonder if he would still have the time to develop a player fully, after the player began to show his potential, before someone else bought him.
