Our defense is averaging 62.3 per game points is significant as Pikiell's strategy is working on this end. We are second in the conference behind Wisconsin.

We are first in Conf for FG% defense.

The bad news is obvious - its simply scoring.

It really is good news and a testament to the culture Pike and staff are bringing to the program. If we can keep that defensive identity moving forward as we add more shooters and offensive options through recruiting, we could really find ourselves starting to move up through the conference standings.

In addition to the improvement on the boards, the number of dumb fouls committed has come down significantly from last year. I love how we close out on the perimeter, and avoid leaving our feet on ball fakes. Night and day. Props to Pike and staff.

Agree. Our defense has been much much better

Something to build on, and why I still think we will win 4 games in the B1G

Pikiell and staff are getting it done where *** don't necessarily equate to playing better defense. Having a good BB IQ, playing hard with heart gets it done on the defensive end along with great coaching. Once we're able to match that on the offensive side, the sky is the limit for our program. That won't happen this year or probably next, but I expect us to make the leap in two seasons.

I agree, this team does have lots of heart and fight. Offensively, I just sit at the games and wonder why none of them can shoot. Staff seems to get them in the right positions, but it doesn't seem to matter. Make great drives to the hoop, then blow the layup. Spot up for open 3, shoot an air ball. Battle for an offensive rebound get it, but can't finish.

Offensive woes have been going on for a long time .Most of the talented players transferred and the end result is seen in composite watching this seasons team,ie,plays hard but simply can't put the ball in the basket enough times to win against league competition.

Coach P took a squad that laid big eggs in the OOC past years & cobbled together a decent squad that has heart...and does what is asked ...within their abilities.

My guess is we get some transfer help ala Gettys but even better next year.
Coach P WILL get it done,,,,,,as he puts HIS GUYS in place

I love all the GOOD NEWS posted in this thread!!!!
