I have to be honest, I enjoyed watching games there more than I did playing in it. The floor’s hard as a rock. Always was a great place to watch basketball thoughThe good ole Ogallala Auditorium. One of the best home court advantages in the state for years. Loud and hot! I loved playing in that facility and watching games there.
The 82 Grant game created quite a dilemma for us JV bench warmers. We came out of the locker room after the JV game and there was nowhere to sit, let alone stand. The coaches were pretty adamant back then about the entire team setting behind the bench for the varsity game, the only problem is it never entered anyone’s mind to reserve those seats for usI just meant JV warm ups Coach Sloup. We had a triple overtime thriller with Minden my sophomore year that sticks out. Anytime we played Grant was awesome as well. The two games that stick out the most to me as a fan were two games with Grant. 1982 when Bill Jackman was a senior and then in 1992. People got in line at noon to get into the Aud. Doors opened at 4:30 and they were locked by 5:00.
1984. Hey I don't blame ya. I'd have sat there tooSpeedy, what year did you graduate from OHS?
I also have a confession. I was one of those elementary kids sitting on the row behind the bench.
I was born in 1987...just for perspective![]()
It did? I thought nostalgia and gray hair went hand in handHaha this thread really got off track!
No I wasn't able to go. I did go to a couple of games earlier this yearSpeedy66, did you go to the game on Friday in the Aud?
