Team Leaders?

Can you project some team leaders (Captains?) on both side of the ball? The importance of such can't be overstated. In an ESPN College Sports interview with Urban Myer last week, he was lamenting about who might emerge as this year's leaders, especially with the graduation of JT Barrett.

Would think Deonte Roberts would be one, since he was a Captain last year?

On offense, could see Cole and Gio as Captains, even if Gio is not the starter, he is the leader of the QB room, if you read comments from Lewis and Sitkowski. Might be a nice nod to him if he does not get the starter role.

For so many reasons...no

Jon Bateky seems like a very hard working natural leader for the defense and captain material as does Kevin Wilkins. As for the offense besides Tariq Cole I’d say Jonah Jackson seems like a natural leader and maybe even Zack Heeman with great academics and a true team player.

Maybe he feels Fogg passes Roberts and starts. Roberts certainly was a leader last year. Not sure that has changed.

I can't see having a QB who isn't a clear cut starter as a team captain. Just seems like a bad idea. You need a guy who is going to be there, in the same position, for the entire season.

Last year, Rutgers had four captains -- two offense and two on defense.

This time, I'm going to change it and put three on defense and one of offense.

I'm going OL Tariq Cole, LB Deonte Roberts, DL Kevin Wilkins, and CB Isaiah Wharton.

Are you related to Gio?? You are really defending him like you defended Flood. You don't want a bench warmer as Capt

Also Max Anthony may deserve discussion. Ash likes his do anything attitude and he’s a walk on

No to Roberts, No to a QB that may not start and I am ok with Cole if his teammates think so.
Strange post..."you're ok with Cole" if his teammates think so" but apparently if those same teammates want Gio or Roberts, you're are not ok with it. Isn't it up to the players and coach who they want?

Players don't always get it right. (last year, how does a first year transfer become Captain and Bash Joseph does not) I'm not going to get into my reasoning for Roberts but while I think Gio is one of the most loyal players we have and has always given it his all, I don't like the idea of naming a QB Captain if he is not 100% sure to be the starter.

So it's up to you to make the choices over, let's just say, the kids that are actually in the locker room, weight room, team meetings and practicing on the field every single day. Your right don't let the players make the choice. [eyeroll]

SMH -this is a message board and giving my opinion, I have nothing to do with who gets selected as Captain and or who starts...

Of course you don't nor do I which makes our opinions over that of the players look silly.
