If Saturday was typical of his play, I can see why he started. He looked very good, very nice 3 point shot, he drives well & can hit the pull up 15 footer. He plays smooth, so his speed is under estimated. One exhibition game is too early to base a lot on, but he looked very good Saturday.

Yes, that was the one surprise i saw. I knew nothing about his game, but he fits in well athletically with the other guys and should help a bunch. I suppose that means we have a lot of PGs but in the system we run, its not positions that matter, but matchups.

Guys like Taplin and Ray are a pain in the A$$ to defend for a normal/larger player because they're smaller... Not only are they incredibly agile, but their dribble is a lot closer to the ground than a 6'4 guard. It makes their dribble moves crisper and quicker and their cuts can be more surprising.

From a physical standpoint, Taplin should be able to guard pretty much every opposing PG we'll see this year. He just had to work to keep guys in front of him... 'Cause we don't have the luxury of having a ton of serviceable forwards who will have fouls to spare if opposing PG's are wreaking havoc off the dribble and on the pass.
