The first exhibition game is just a little over a week away and Tampa is the opponent. Tampa went 18-10 last year playing in the Division 2 Sunshine State Conference. They did not play a Division 1 team but their conference is a fairly strong division 2 conference. Playing UConn will be unchartered territory for Tampa, but Tampa will be doing it with a couple of D-1 transfers from Utah State and Lamar. Interestingly the Spartans will prep for the UConn game by scrimmaging Southern CT State in New Haven on Friday Oct. 30 so they will have a game under their belts whereas UConn will prep with an intrasquad scrimmage only. I live in the New Haven area so I will attempt to get a peek at the Tampa team ahead of the exhibition game.
