On the offensive side of the football, there are some pretty clear tiers for this team. If you think of tiers 1 through 10...

Tier 1: Washington. Dude is in a whole 'nother galaxy. A true game-breaker. Can't wait to see him at full health. Would start for most Power 5 teams.

Tier 2: Spielman, Robinson. Spielman has proven himself time and time again. Robinson shows great skill, just haven't seen enough of him yet.

Tier 3: < none >

Tier 4: Martinez

Tier 5: Stoll.

Tier 6: < none >

Tier 7 and below: Everybody else.

There is a major gap after Washington Spielman, and Robinson. And then another major gap after Martinez and Stoll.

So Stoll and Martinez are similar talents, huh? I guess we should be used to the fanbase around here just hating the starting QB. The saying about the most popular guy on campus being the backup quarterback must have originated at Nebraska. We don't deserve Martinez.

Fair enough. Martinez can be Tier 4. He's still too tentative and inconsistent (and frankly slow so far this year) for me to move him up. Point is, there is a gap between him and the top three studs.

I respect your opinion but after what Robinson did Sat night I would put him ahead of MO. MO hasn't been able to put on a show like Wandale did. Martinez issue this year is he isn't consistent. He is either really good or really bad. Average that out and he really doesn't have horrible stats. I think Wandale, Mo, Martinez, and JD are by far the most talented guys on the offense. After that we take a pretty good drop off

I can see that. Neither Washington nor Robinson have played enough to sort it all out. The point is, they are young studs. We need guys like this at many more positions in order to truly compete with the big boys. As you say, steep drop off from there.

at least he didnt have Vedral as tier 3.

Martinez is more a detriment to this offense, and team than anything right now. If Wandale doesn't ball out in the 4th we lose to a team that lost to Eastern Michigan the week before. Osborne would have put in the backup by now and my proof is he benched QBs for less.

TE,s have been good to me Howard, sez the iowa guy.
They can play any position, theyre the best,sez the iowa guy.
They just cant run funny like them lil guys, sez the iowa guy.

So you don't agree that there is a considerable drop-off in talent once you get past those guys?

I just got a big laugh at your "talent tiers". I found it equally funny that you had ten of them. Most people just say some guys are very talented. No reason to shade the others. This is normal on most teams where you have a few that really shine.

The guy just threw for 300+ and ran for 100+ in a game, for only the second time in school history. Odd time to call him a detriment to the offense.

Facts are facts. Most of the squad is fairly pedestrian. At least we have a few guys with true NFL talent in the program now. Need to develop the others and keep recruiting hard.

I was very critical of his play in the first half. The fumbles are getting to a ridiculous level. Have no issues with his 2nd half. Dude looked great.

One more time. We just had 700 yards of offense, more than doubling our opponents output, and still almost lost and that opponent was called Illinois....... why did we not win by 30?

Trend continues we are a 4 or 5 win team. You happy with that in year 2? You gonna find the excuses you need to support the decision to hitch the wagon to this QB (who in this system is the foundation for it operating the way it should)?

Bruce, I think most people understand why we almost lost. Fumbles can be fixed. Confidence levels grow when you play well and Adrian killed it in the 2nd half. He is a true sophomore and an extremely talented kid. He has had a slow start and I wasn't opposed to benching him if the poor decision making and turnovers continued. However, you are giving him zero credit for a great second half. Grow up Bruce or I'll have Adrian take out a restraining order against you.

He had a turnover in the second half and was still leading receivers to death. You know he only attempted 3 passes in the 4th? Wandale and the defense carried this team to the win not him.

Your stupidity is amazing. I seem to remember several pimp runs by my boy Adrian. I know you are busy sucking off Wandale at the moment but to shade Adrian is pure stupidity. They both played great in the 2nd half. I wish I could give you one of those NASA pills they give astronauts when they get lost in space. Just fade away Bruce.
