6 of us are going to Madison for the first time. Does anyone have advice on tailgating? We don't want to do the bar thing and prefer tailgating in a parking lot. I read about lot 60 by Lake Mendotta. Has anybody tailgated there? Looks like you can take a bucky bus to the game. Thanks for any advise you can give.

It has been awhile since I have been there, 2003, but I think it is University Ave that goes along the southside of the stadium. There were wide sidewalks with places grilling and kegs. Thousands walking up and down that street. Fun

Here’s a good suggestion- stay home as these idiot fans from Wis come out in droves to make your experience miserable… especially those FRATS but hey… don’t say I didn’t warn you lol

This will be my first trip to Madison as well. Any suggestions as to where to get dinner Friday night? I'm looking for someplace nice, not flat draft beer and cheese curds.

If you are driving go to Monona and "Fat Jacks Barbecue". You will be pleasantly surprised at how good solid barbecue really is. Have always done friday night there before a football game and the clientele is far from average. Lots of influential Madison folks eat there. Check out their website.

Sounds like Melrose with the exception of the wide sidewalks.

I read another post talking about the hothead Wisky fans and I have seen that first hand there and a friend of mine from Iowa City had some Wisky fan kick a dent in his car while my friend was slowly driving thru the crowd. And they tried to pull his buddy out of the car from the shotgun seat, weird drunkards up there.

my wife, 3 teenage kids and I will be in the dells next weekend and thought about swinging down for the game as we've never been to an away game outside of ames/lincoln. are badger fans really that bad? i don't want us all to be harassed all night. def thinking lower level tickets to try to avoid the worst of the fans.

also, anyone have an idea what section there might be a decent contingent of iowa fans so i can try to get tickets near them? strength in numbers and stuff.

thanks in advance.

Sections W & X would be your best bet. However, I bought 2 tix in Section U Row 19 on Stubhub for $93/each after fees. Sections P thru X will definitely have the most Iowa fans.

Watch you azz after the game. Drunken Wiscy fans can get nasty, especially after dark. There will be plenty of hammered dipshits by 9:30.

We have always just found spots in nearby neighborhoods….honestly aside from having more bars right near the stadium….Wisconsin has felt the most like Kinnick/Iowa City compared to all the other Big Ten places I have been.

Been to a number of these games...no problems.
Just keep cool and don't engage any loudmouths and you will be fine.

Had seats in X clear up against the back wall in the corner. First thought they were the worst seats but ended up loving them.
Lots of Iowa fans around us. You can see the whole field very well from a distance. Take a binocular along. Shakes a bit when they jump around.
If Iowa gets off to a good start the kids won't be around by the end of the 3rd qtr.

Got mine through Iowa AD. Section II (which is ii) appears to be where Wisconsin located us.

Thanks for the info everyone. Scored 11th row tickets behind the Iowa bench. Anyone want to allow a family of 5 to join their tailgate? 😁
