Anybody know what is going on there? I saw the job is posted on their website and the state website. But, I haven't seen an article on it.

What all jobs are still open? Reynolds and Enka are filled. What other schools were there? I don’t remember others.
That’s right, I forgot about the two Henderson schools since Beatty left. There are two very talented athletes coming through at N. Henderson in the Willis brothers, assuming they stay there.
I would think Crompton gets a hard look at W. Henderson. Granted he was working with the best crop of football talent, West had had in 20 years, maybe more, but they seemed to like him there. Personally, I don’t think Holt’s a good fit at West.
Meanwhile, the folks at Tuscola seem to not like Crompton at all but they seem to run everyone off, so who knows. I could see Holt going back to Tuscola,( and I do believe Crompton leaves just not sure for what) because he had a lot going on with FFA and ag prior to leaving and was well received there.

Crompton is coaching at his alma mater. To me. Despite anything else going on. That would be a tough draw to pull him away.
Could Andrews’s last coach come out of retirement and end up at Swain? He was an assistant there for nearly 20 years before coming back home to take over the Wildcats. Would be a home run hire for the Maroon Devils…. if there is any validity to the topic of this thread.
Also, what is Heath Shuler doing these days? Don’t know if he would be interested or not but he was on the coaching staff at Christ School when his son was playing there.
Swain is a sleeping giant. They are a good HC hire away from being back IMO.

Is Swain 2a now? or 1a? If they are 2a I am not sure who the HC is matters, they cant beat Tarboro. Maybe they could be "back" as a factor in the west. But right now the west cannot compete with Tarboro.
Also, generally, the better Swain teams get alot of players from Cherokee. I am not sure they have alot of Cherokee's kids right now.

Murphy just “competed” pretty well against Tarboro in the 2a title game two weeks ago. It was a 6-0 game well into the 4th qtr before Tarboro was able to wear Murphy down, force some turnovers, and pull away late. Murphy held their own and proved they belonged on the same field. Murphy will get over the Tarboro hump sooner or later. It’s not a question of if, but when. They are much closer than you think.

Granted it Christmas break. So school is out and everything is moving slow. But I’m surprised we haven’t heard more about what’s going on at Swain.
They are 2a.
Swain's EBCI enrollment has hovered between 30%-40% for decades as far as I know, so that influx of talent isn't typically an issue with many EBCI players having already played for Swain. The rule in place doesn't affect much unless they are a senior as well.
If Swain can get a real coach able to not squander the ample talent walking the halls they will compete just fine.
Phillips would be an excellent hire, the issue with Swain hasn't been talent based for years.
