I ask this because I don't know. Is Duval the strength coach and is there also a speed coach? Another reason I ask is I've seen probably 30 of the current/former players workout with Slatt a lot over the past 3 years.
I think he overseas the entire program and compassing both speed and strength
So under Duvall’s watchful eye they are kicking *** and doing everything right but not elsewhere? We are undisciplined, unfocused, and lack effort. Is that the strength trainer’s responsibility? Go back and watch the 61 yard QB TD run and look at our boy’s effort on the play.
Perhaps part of accountability reference? We are slow and weak. I don't get it.
100%. If the coach doesn't bother to show up to meetings, that he scheduled, bc he's too hungover to attend, are the players showing up for "voluntary" workouts? No.Perhaps part of accountability reference?
Maybe a lot of sign-ins but no work actually being done and nobody following up that work was being done?
We’re slow on the o and d lines. I don’t know about weak. Our d scheme is ludicrousWe are slow and weak. I don't get it.
It's a business. The quicker you realize that as a parent, the more money you will save in the long run. Some parents think it's the best thing ever to spend a few hundred on every couple months. Kids club sports are so competitive that parents think they have to do "extras" like this just for their kids to compete. Xedge does an incredible job promoting its brand to the various club sports in the Omaha area. It's crazy times we live in. My advice is to save that money, put it into a 529 plan, invest in your kids brain.I always thought the Duval stuff was ****. His bro ran an S&C program at one of the big soccer programs in Omaha when my kids were younger. You had to sign up and do the program. It didn’t do **** for my kids or any other ones on their teams. Shrug. Not that I’m an expert, but I don’t think we got any value for the money.
I’m certain that we only see a minuscule fraction of what they do in the strength and conditioning department. It’s not all 3/4 squat max effort.I don’t think the problem is exercise selection as much as it is what stimulus the exercise is looking to produce. Squats are one of the best exercises for athletic development. My biggest issue is all the squat videos from the off-season are lineman doing slow grind out reps without achieving full depth. At some point there becomes a point of diminishing return for adding an extra 20 pounds to a lift. Strong is strong. I would like to see more focus with these lifts on velocity/speed component of the power equation. The weight room has, but to my knowledge is not utilizing the EliteForm system which can be used to track bar velocity. I would be a lot more encouraged if I saw less of our lineman grinding through a 1-3 rep max and more of them with 70-80% of their max on the bar and moving it at a velocity that creates a speed adaptation to the movement. Bryan Mann’s Velocity Based Training provides a pretty easy to understand outline of this.
Obviously that’s the case. More concerned they have decided those are the highlights.I’m certain that we only see a minuscule fraction of what they do in the strength and conditioning department. It’s not all 3/4 squat max effort.
It looked like OU was playing a Div II defense. We are undisciplined, unfocused, and lack effort. Is that the strength trainer’s responsibility? Go back and watch the 61 yard QB TD run and look at our boy’s effort on the play.
Agree. I laugh at what my friends spend in time and money for athletics on their very average kids. Just save the time and set that cash on fire. It's a business. Until we start ripping pecs like the Watt family does one after another we know we are short in “nutrients”.I’m certain that we only see a minuscule fraction of what they do in the strength and conditioning department. It’s not all 3/4 squat max effort.
